Tierre Brown, Pat Burke, and Carlos Powell Invited to Camp

Tierre Brown, Pat Burke, and Carlos Powell will be headed to Hawaii for Training Camp.

http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_23508.shtml

I think both Brown and Burke are intriguing. Burke played in that uptempo system in Phoenix .. sort of. But Brown has a TREMENDOUS amount of quickness. He was in a similar situation with the Lakers a few years back and made the team out of camp.

Tierre Brown
Found a youtube clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hesxyvLtw80

Handle looks pretty smooth, and i like his size (6'2, 190). Can't tell much other than that, but at least we can see him in action.

Questions? Complaints?

huh
am i missing something here? Where's Pierce and Toby Bailey?? Two of the best players on the Warriors summer league team IMO. Why no camp invite?
Carlos Powell did play in summer league as well and did fairly well.

Let's Go Oakland! Gas, Brake, Dip.

Huh?
I'm really not impressed by any of these guys....or why the Warriors would want to sign them. Thay're all D-League scrubbish, and none of them look to improve in my book. We can't make up our roster entirely of lesser Monta Ellises and Andris Biedrinses.

How about getting Darrell Armstrong?!?!?!

There's....just too many guys that were better that we could've brought in.

And
where do you propose Armstrong would play? 4th string PG behind BD, Monta and Hudson? I don't think so.

in regards to pierre pierce
I think if he was invited and made the roster it would be a PR disaster that the media would have a field day with. He messed up TWICE in violating women, and though he has skills that we all saw in summer league, his past will always overshadow him. Waste of talent, but he made those choices.

well there's more to it than that...
The following is info I got from someone from Oakland I met that was actually his friend:  The source informed me that Pierce was really judged quickly and not treated fairly in his main conviction.  It was definitely a racially sensitive situation, black guy and white girlfriend in conservative town, she cheated on him, he flipped, he may have done wrong but he did not flat out rape anyone, and the punishment did not fit the crime and there were unfair circumstances... not justifying any harm on women, just noting the problem when justice is replaced with revenge in the media.

Having said that, I doubt thats why, its more along the lines of we have that position filled, otherwise he would not have even been invited in the summer.

that was on his second thing
I've heard the first thing he did was far worse than he was convicted of.  It was "misdemeanor charge of assault causing injury" and many thought he got off light because of the athletic dept (so much for the black man in a white town argument).  Something about "forced sodomy"

Pierce
Why all the love for this guy? Apart from the off the court stuff, he wasn't even THAT good in the summer league.

by SpreeForThree on Oct 1, 2007 3:33 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Pat Burke
I like Pat Burke. He is one funny guy and could be the Irish version of Adonal Foyle, minus the defense. He will make an excellent addition to our bench. Not only he'll provide us with his garbage time shooting, he'll definitely replace Sarunas Jasikevicius' cheer leading spot.

From the looks of things
those training camp invitees would have a real tough time making the team since it seems air france will be back at the QO.  Maybe one of them should pull a "tonya harding" on POB.

The best duo since...
