GSOF: AFC and NFC West Preview
San Diego Chargers
We all know Norv Turner is a TERRIBLE head coach, but even he can't ruin this amazing team. I'm sure LT will try to break his TD record from last year, Philly boy is always improving, and the Gates are going to stay open. Lights are Out for the rest of the teams in the division and the Charges are going to make another run for the AFC Conference title.
Prediction: 12-4 (AFC West Division Champion)
Oakland Raiders
Forget JaMarcus for now, we have Daunte! Rumor has it he won't be starting on Sunday, but I guarantee you that he will in a few weeks. Now that Jerry Porter took his head out of his ass and decided to play this year, he will be Culpepper's favorite target along with Dominique Rhodes when he comes back from that suspension. Let's not forget that their defense was ranked one of the highest in pass defense last year. No one has said a good word about the Raiders this offseason, but have faith my friends, have faith. The Raider Nation will have faith!
Prediction: 8-8 (AFC Wild Card)

I always wondered why he didn't smile in this picture
Denver Broncos
Jay Cultler needs more time before he can take control of games and dominate against the defenses present in this division. They have a nice CB duo with Dre Bly and Champ Bailey and picked up a nice RB (Travis Henry) in the offseason. Whatever, the Raiders will dominate them!
Prediction: 7-9
Kansas City Chiefs
Neither Damon Huard nor Brodie Croyle will be able to hold this season down. LJ should dominate the running game but he and Tony Gonzalez can't run the offense by themselves. I feel a garbage season for the boys from Arrowhead.
Prediction: 5-11 (AFC Wild Card)
The NFC West after the jump!

San Francisco 49ers
WE BELIEVE VERSION 2.0!!! It's the 9ers time to shine and they're about to shine bright! The boys of SF had one of the greatest offseasons and signed big names Darrell Jackson, Nate Clements, Michael Lewis, and Ashley Lelie. Two first round draft picks too? Nice! Remember when someone claimed Frank "The Tank" Gore was one of the worst draft picks ever? I bet that guy is going to be biting his tongue when The Tank breaks the single season rushing record this year. Let's not forget about the Vernon "The Disease" Davis and his high potential for success this year. Yet, the success of the 49ers all depends on this man

Prediction: 10-6 (NFC West Division Champion)
Arizona Cardinals
It all rests on the offensive line and everyone on this team knows it. If Leinhart can get his time to throw to his amazing WRs - Fitzgerald and Boldin - or if Edge can get his room to run, the offense will dominate all over this season. Defense is iffy, but if the offense can consistently score over 21 - which is a possibility - they will make the playoffs.
Prediction: 9-7 (NFC Wild Card)
St. Louis Rams
I like the other Action Jackson, Tory Holt has mad skillz, Bulger is underrated, but that's it. They don't have the youth of the Cardinals nor the defense of the 49ers (I can't believe I said that...) so I can't imagine the Rams getting too far this year.
Prediction: 7-9
Seattle Seahawks
Get outta here if you think Shaun Alexander or Matt Hasselback will be what they were 2 years ago. We jacked Darrell Jackson from them and now they're stuck with just Deion Branch. We took their confidence last year by beating them twice and we're about to take the division from them this year.
Prediction: 6-10
Who do you think is going to dominate the West divisions?

A very poor and bias edition of GSoF
Chargers are Fine in #1.
Raiders: 8-8? F*** no. WHAT has this team done to improve after last year? Jamarcus Russell? He hasn't even signed a contract. No matter how good their QB is, their OL still sucks, their RB is average to good, and their WRs, when not in jail, are mediocre. Don't even get me started on their pitious defense, where the only thing they got is a too old Warren Sapp. My prediction? 1-15. Get ready for another #1 pick, Oakland. (Why is there an Oilers logo behind JaMarcus in that pic?)
Broncos: 7-9? No again. While Jay Cutler is young, everyone agrees that the Broncos strongpoint was never Jake Plummer, who had better days in Arizona. With a complete surrounding cast, they could have Tim Couch without steroids at QB and still go the distance. My prediction? 10-6, wildcard. Why so low? Jay Cutlers still learning. And I think he's a huge bust. But no huge bust could ruin this team. Put in Patrick Ramsey and you'd go 11-5 or 12-4.
Chiefs: Too high. Without Larry Johnson this team is absolute poop. 5-11.
NFC West:
49ers: 10-6? No. This is a good team, that I would say could make the playoffs in any other division in the NFL. However, this division is absolutely STACKED. 8-8.
Cardinals: 7-9. Again, tough division.
Rams: You just said that the QB, RB, and WR is good, but that's it. Oh no, no TE? The defense is decent, but if the offense can be like they used to, which I think they will, they can go pretty far. 10-6
Seahawks: Your reasons for dissing this team are very, very poor. There is no reason, if Shaun Alexander is back, that they should do it like it's 2005. 11-5.
Anyway, I think all of your other predications were good Mr.Dizzle, but these divisions were ruined by some Bay Area bias.

Raiders 1-15?
Their offense is a different story but if Daunte finds a connection with one of the recievers and Williams has a reconnection with his former positions coach, it should be a good 5-6+ win season. Easily.
But if they went 1-15, it wouldn't matter. Hello Darren McFadden.

ugh.
I could name the differences to this team easily. First of all, we actually have a real quarterback. Not Walter. His names Cullpepper, and he's actually a bonafide starter. JaMarcus has nothing to do with this team this year. He won't play.
The defense was ranked 3rd overall last year, and they're actually a very young defense. Other than a couple of fossils they are going to be well oiled. Our schedule is fairly easy compared to years past. As typically there would be 8 games we just couldn't win this year there are only 4 that are virtually unwinnable: the two against san diego, indy, and chicago.
Our defense gives us a legitimate shot at every other game we play, especially if our offense is marginally better than it was last year, which it should be considering we have wide recievers who will actually cooperate with Kiffin, and a quarterback who's been a winner before.
Is this JaMarcus' team in the future? I think so. Is it JaMarcus' team now? No.
Is he even relevant? Not yet.
We always get spanked by Denver. If we can beat the teams we need to beat, there's no reason we can't go 8-8. It's unlikely though. I don't see them improving that much over the course of a year. I see 6-10 and 7-9 Both being in their grasp.
In any case, I think they're much better than last year and they will not be in the cellar anymore.
They will win 2 games in the first month.

I can't really argue
So hey, maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not sold. And I also have a bias because Andrew Walter got negative points for me in fantasy last year, and lost me games.
But, you have a West Coast bias.

now.. the raiders may lose more games then the niners, but remember, just a few years ago the niners were the most pathetic thing in football. we were atleast competitive with our defense last year. its just that our qb was getting sacked every play. we have a much better coaching staff this year and our line IS better this year. my prediction we win atleast 5 or 6 games. who knows, maybe our offense will surprise some people because we do have some talented recievers and we win 8. not likely but we will be way better this year.
like the other guy said.. you sound like your talking out of your ass.

Hey
We can always be hopeful right? I'll admit the Raiders prediction is pretty outlandish, but the Niners have a damn good chance to win the division. And so do the Seahawks, Cardinals, and Rams. The NFC West is all up in the air and it'll really depend on who gets hot in the beginning.
Look, at least I'm not this guy
Pats will win Super Bowl - over 49ers

Hasselbeck is going to get hurt early. Seneca Wallace is a decent backup but he can't put the team on his back.
It's the 9ers to lose, if you ask me.

LOL
I think Denver will finish second in the division at 10-6. 9 wins will not get you into the playoffs in the AFC, at least not this year.
Kansas City saw Willie Roaf and Will Shields walk off into the sunset and that will hurt exponentially. L.J. got a new contract extension but he won't be as effective as he was last year.
Raiders at 8-8? LOL. They were effective against the pass last year because they were playing from behind all game and playing from behind BIG. Opposing teams had no reason to throw and thus ran the ball for the majority of the latter parts of the game. I agree, Sapp shedding weight could be interesting but he is in the latter stages of his career. Burgess is a beast. But BT, the other names you threw out there just seem like you're an Oakland fan. Schweigert is an above average safety. Asomugha is a promising player, but other than that, those other names you threw out there are just products of homerism.
I'm a 49er fan and I don't think we'll be as good as many media posts and other fans think they'll be. 9-7 or 10-6 is probable but as that MSNBC report suggests, there is no way we're going to the Super Bowl. The 49ers are all about Frank Gore. As he goes, so do the 49ers.
We can beat second tier teams like the Broncos, but we can't be held in the same breath as the Colts, Bears, Chargers, or Pats. Not this year at least. I think the 49ers are one more productive NFL draft and free agency away not just from cracking the playoff picture, but progressing deep into January.

haha
Asomugha was one of the best corners in the league last year. and if you watched the raider games, the other teams had the ball the entire game as our offense went three and out every time because of the offensive line and the stupid ass coaches, and our defense was still impressive.
I havent heard anyone who thinks the niners have a shot at the superbowl and whoever you heard that from you should have slapped them on the spot. what i have heard from most people: alex smith doesnt look very impressive and that the playoffs would be a stretch. its pretty bad when people on knbr half jokingly say that the first game of the year for the niners is a must win. and half jokingly means it has some truth to it. if they do make the playoffs it will be because the nfc is hella weak.
and as much as i hate the denver broncos, they are a damn good team. they may be second tier to the colts and company, but if you put them at second tier the forty niners and the raiders are a 5th tier team. really dude. the niners have absolutely no shot against a team like the broncos. neither do the raiders, but im not pretending they do.

are you retarded?
prob·a·ble ˈprɒbəbəl Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[prob-uh-buhl] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
-adjective
1. likely to occur or prove true: He foresaw a probable business loss. He is the probable writer of the article.
2. having more evidence for than against, or evidence that inclines the mind to belief but leaves some room for doubt.
3. affording ground for belief.
based on a 7-9 record last year, considerable improvements through free agency and a productive draft, one or two more wins than last year isn't probable?
I said 9-7 is probable, in other words, feasible, in other words possible. Nowhere in my post did i say, "THE 49ERS WILL GO 10-6."
No shot against the Broncos? You're kidding me right? Against the 49ers, the Broncos were facing a WIN and you're IN game against the lowly 49ers at Milehigh Stadium last season and they lost in overtime. So you tell me they have no shot? Right. When was the last time Oakland beat Denver in Denver I might add? I'm a 49er fan but in no way am I blinded by what I believe my team can or can not do.
There's a reason why many media posts are picking the 49ers to be a sleeper team this year and to crack the playoff picture. Again, there's no way we're ready to go the superbowl, but based on how we finished the season last year, and what we did in the offseason, there's no possible way to say that an improvement isn't plausible.
