OPEN THREAD - Warriors vs Nets

Barkley_08_ms

Don't look at me Chuck! Tony.psd dun done it.

monta fsn

And it's back by popular demand!

Warriors (W-L): 25-18

Nets (W-L): 18-23

Time: 7:30PM PST tip off

TV: TNT

Vegas Odds: Golden State by 9 (source: yahoo.com)

Counselor: "Hello everyone. Welcome; we're glad to see so many people come out tonight. I hope everyone has gotten a chance to grab some punch and Oreos; if not there's plenty left after the meeting. Let's get started though. I see a new face in the crowd. Perhaps you'd like to stand up and introduce yourself?"

Warriors: "Hey there everyone... To be honest, I'm not really sure what I'm doing here..."

Counselor: "You're in a safe place now. You're among friends. Go ahead. Tell us why you're here."

Warriors: "Um... okay... My name is The Golden State Warriors and I have developed serious inconsistencies in my game."

Group: (all together) "Hello Warriors!"

Warriors: "Oh... well hello there... wow, you're all so nice..."

Counselor: "Go on. It's okay. Make the Jump and tell us about your problem."

Star-divide

Warriors: "Well I guess you can say that it started at the beginning of the season. I mean, seriously, starting 0 and 6 will warp anyone, right? ...right? Well, to make a long story short, I felt as if I had moved past that part of my life! I put together a great win streak and slowly but surely I've been pulling farther and farther away from .500!"

Counselor: "So why is it that you think you're here?"

Warriors: "Well, that's the thing. I... I..."

Counselor: "Go on... Be strong... We can help you!"

Warriors: "I lost to Minnesota."

(Collective Gasp)

Counselor: "Oh... wow... um... really?"

Warriors: "Yea..."

Counselor: "Minnesota?"

Warriors: "Yea..."

Counselor: "Damn... You need help man..."

Warriors: "I know... and I don't have much time... I have to play New Jersey tonight..."

Counselor: "Oh wow. Jersey, huh? Yea we all heard what they did to you last time in the Meadowlands."

Warriors: "You did? Really? People were talking about that?!"

Counselor: "Oh no no no, it wasn't like that. I mean, they're actually somewhat of a force. You've got to contain Kidd, Jefferson, AND Carter tonight?! Didn't Vince nail that last minute 3 pointer that killed you guys last time?!"

Warriors: "Yea, he did... but I mean, I feel pretty good about tonight. Sure I'm a little dejected about losing to the Wolves, but I really think that I can use my shame to fuel me tonight. I made a lot of stupid mistakes against the Nets last time around that could have been prevented."

Counselor: "And what makes you think that you can prevent those mistakes tonight?"

Warriors: "Oh that's easy. Nellie will kill me."

Counselor: "Like he'll be upset?"

Warriors: "No man. He'll kill me. Kill me dead. That fool is crazy."

Counselor: "Looks like you better win tonight."

Warriors: "No doubt."

Counselor: "Well good luck out there. And don't be intimidated by the fact that you will be on national TV tonight."

Warriors: "Wait, WHAT?!"

Counselor: "Well looks like we're out of time this week! Let's all wish the Warriors good luck tonight!"

Group: (all together) "Good luck Warriors!

Warriors: "National TV? What?! Wait a minute!"

Predictions:
* Barkley wears his We Believe shirt.
* Baron lights up the floor with 25+ points and 7+ assists
* Beans nails his standard double-double
* Beans uses 2 bottles of gel.
* Kidd gets a single double
* Warriors by 6.

that Minnesota loss was . . .
painful, but less so since the T-Wolves knocked off the mighty Suns yesterday at home.  If the T-Wolves were to string together a double digit winning streak (two in a row so far), our loss to them might be easier to take given. . . . okay, who am I kidding.  It'd still be painful!!

we can never trade or let monta get away. ever. how many people bring as much energy to the game as he does? when he drives you know hes going to get a shot up if not in everytime. i even created a new word for him. Beautimus. Beautifull, Magnificent and Fabulous all at once. Beautimus.

ahh
found the article

"5-on-5: Davis said a main reason he wears No. 5 is because Kidd has that number.

Davis remembered going to a tournament in Las Vegas when he was in the seventh grade and Kidd was in high school.

Davis marveled at how Kidd was so "much faster and quicker" than everyone, and at his ball-handling and his passing abilities. "He's just a great person to pattern your game after," Davis said.

In fact, when Davis was a sophomore in high school in Southern California, he wanted to go to Cal, mainly because of Kidd.

Davis said Cal wouldn't offer him a scholarship at that time, so he chose UCLA. He was asked Wednesday if he has ever told the folks at Cal they should regret their decision.

"They know," he said with - and to - laughter."

For being pigheaded again. 22 Minutes for Baron, 20 minutes for Jack.

Where's Watson or POB? We couldn't have gotten 5 minutes of blow for them? Maybe we coulda done something about that 3-11 FG or the 31-20 rebounding deficit.

It's freakin' New Jersey, it should not be close.

i really think this could be a turning point for the W's. after losing to the T-Wolves and hearing the boo-birds, they have really responded. Thank you Al!!! The announcer says
that Antoine Wright leads the NBA in stepping out of bounds. Pietrus is going to be pissed when he hears this.

baron
i'm usually one who defends his shot selection, but these last couple have been tough. taking it to the rim or passing seem like better options right now. he did start the 22-0 run with a top-of-the-key 3, too, though.

anyone in favor of bringing it back? i'm thinking about it. our d has been really weak tonight. at least boone couldn't score 3 on 2 FT's.

i say
one of t he most exciting games of the season. not a great bounce back from the timberwolves but ill still take it.

by GSwarrior on Jan 24, 2008 10:23 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

no
our home game against the laker was the best.. followed by the game against the spurs.. then our game against the heat. game against chicago was also pretty exciting.

hmmm
I'm going to have to disagree.  I thought this was an awful game.  They played very sluggish and barely beat a team that they should have killed.

i still
say lakers.. phoenix was a blowout plain and simple nothing exciting except watching the warriors pound the number 1 in western conference.

now the lakers game.. nail biter... baron hitting two clutch 3s.. throwing kisses..bynum dominating us with offensive boards.. biedrins the tip ins... that final odom freethrow miss and ellis stealing it for the win1!

everyone on the warriors owe vince a thankyou card
after starting red red hot he finished shooting around 50% (after starting at about 80%). his barrage of bad shots in the fourth helped hand it to the dubs

I would
surprised to find out about this!
I thought Pietrus would be a sure runaway winner of the step-out-of-bounds. I never thought someone else in the NBA would be as retarded as Pietrus (let alone more retarded), guess I was wrong.

nah
wright isn't a warrior killer he was 5/11 from the field and 3/5 from beyond the arc in 35 minutes. Hardly warrior killer material. True warrior killed was Boone 7!!! offensive rebounds 7/15 from the field and 7/15 from the FT line... he made Nellie pay for hacking him.

AAAAH!
Another typical Warrior win, by this years standards.  Should we have whipped this team.  I say no.  For every 22 point spurt we are going to see them give up a 15 point lead within a matter of minutes.  That is just how this team plays. You could say we are not consistant, but we are at least entertaining.  For every quick three we take on offense, we are also overly aggresive with our double teams on defense leaving some three point specialist (Rashad McCants, ahem I mean Antoine Walker) alone in the corner for an uncontested three.  It's crazy and I love it and hate it at the same time.

All I got to say is three words:

Hack  A  Boone!
