So as we all know the Dubs are not just a one-hit wonder, they are are a legit contender for a playoff spot. No one except bay area fans believe in them. The Oracle arena needs great music to get the all ready great and pumped up fans even more pumped!
So, here are the songs I have chosen and why: 1. To get the crowd into the game I would be playing The Second Coming by Juelz Santana. I would play this hit right when the Warriors come out of their locker rooms so that the fans would get the idea that the Warriors are coming out to play! This song creates a sense of hard work and believing to reach that goal of a championship and really talks about how the Warriors have been these few years. When tip-off is right about to start I would play Tell Me When To Go by E-40 because everybody from the bay knows it and the "go" part is in agreement with the start of the game. This would also get fans a little hyphy right before a game, who known you might just see Mistah F.A.B. pop out of his chair and get stupid! The third song I would play
right after after half time as the players are preparing to get on the court Bring Em Out by T.I. This song gives fans a feeling that this is our house and no one is gonna get a win in our building! When the words "I can't here you..." are said during the song the fans would go crazy and raise the roof right after half time! The fourth song I would play would be Warriors-Ya Boy. This song just is the Dubs, it talks about  the players and has a great beat overall. Ya Boy is a good friend with the Warriors Tri-captains Stephen,  Matt and Baron. This song would be played during a crucial time out when the Warriors have just made a big run to push their lead. The song pumps up the fans and gives the arena that playoff atmosphere again. The last song I would play, the fifth and final song would be Lose Yourself by Eminem because it gives that final push sound and that here is where champions are made tone. It talks about the crowd getting into the it and about one shot which really gives the fans anticipation and a heres where it all happens picture.

       So these are the five songs I have chosen and I didn't use Frisco Anthem by San Quinn because we would be in Oakland! Hope you enjoy the sights and sounds Warrior Fans!

It was not uncommon in my younger days for me to be taken to the stadium near Hegenberger Road in Oakland (now called the Oracle, then known to me the Coliseum) to take in a basketball game. The first such occasion sent me into a screaming frenzy, forcing my parents to remove me from the building. Was it a result of the terrible, terrible play on the floor? Hardly, since this had to be 1993 at the latest, and the Warriors were yet a pretty hot ticket. Was it a result of some gut churning stadium food? I can safely say it was not, because my stomach in those days practically had a teflon lining.  

In fact, the thing that sent me screaming home was the stadium music and sound effects. Loud, braying and unpleasant, it left my ears feeling as if they were about to bleed (a note: I was five or six at the time). Even as my parents drove me home that bizarrely muggy winter's night, I vowed that someday, I would return to the scene of the crime, a portfolio of new, interesting, deeply affecting music in hand. I knew that when I walked through the door to bring about the demise of jock jams, there would be no tears. I would be greeted as a hero.

Sadly, there would be no such revolution brought about by my hand. You can't take away a man's dreams, though, and my particular dream is stadium music selection that breaks loose.

1. Le Voyage de Penelope (Air) - A short, sweet, powerfully undulating electronic track comes through the speakers as fans are making their way up the stairs to the Oracle.
2. The Bay (Lyrics Born) - A slightly indulgent choice to play as the crowd mills about prior to gametime. While far from being Lyrics Born's most inventive or lyrically slick song, it is what it is, a manifesto of what makes the Bay great. It scored bonus points for listing the area codes.
3. Knights of Cydonia (Muse) - This loud, proud track sounds for all I can tell like some sort of anthem for marauding cowboys. I'm sure somebody has a better insight into what it's about, but I already know it's the perfect sound to welcome the Warriors during the pregame intro.
4. A Day In The Life (Handsome Boy Modeling School w/RZA and The Mars Volta) - A deliciously rythymed rap interspersed with the distinctive chorus howled out by Mars Volta singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala. Perfect for a timeout taken in a close game anywhere from the late 1st quarter to halftime.
5. Lover (Les Paul) - One the of many multi-track recordings the father of the electric guitar made in his basement, the twinkling and inventive guitar melody pipes in during halftime after the entertainment.
6. Paper Plane (MIA) - In the interests of civility and preventing panic and chaos, the gunshot sounds in this will probably have to be replaced with the radio edit version because, well, blaring gunshots over a stadium PA during a basketball game is not very well thought of. Should make for a good Warrior Girl dance, though.
7. Oaktown (The KGB) - To be played only in the midst of a Warriors blowout, this light funk number tells the story of a man abdubted by aliens while driving around Oakland in his crappy old car. As is the case with a few of these tracks, some editing for language will be necessary.
8. Got To Get You Into My Life (Earth, Wind, and Fire) - Sheer enegetic pleasure and good will to abound in the moments following a Warriors win, because nothing brings people together like a victory and a retro groove.
9. Round Midnight (John Coltrane) - Following a Warriors loss, the fans depart the Oracle to the melancholy tones of this downtempo jazz classic. Why deny your feelings with pump up music after a deflating loss? Harness the pain! Make it yours, and make it glorious.

While you may look askance at the list of music submitted above, I assure you, together each track will become something greater than itself, not unlike Voltron, the Megazord, the European Union, or even this very Warriors team!

In conclusion, I think it is safe to say that Moby Dick is the story of the downfall of Captain Aha- uhm, I mean, well... drat... sixth grade book essays were such a bitch.

So the Dubs roll onto their court, all narrowed eyes and scowls. They've got business. They've got the Spurs tonight. They're going up against the establishment, the boring-ass pride and joy of every smarmy sports commentator in the land. But the Warriors are not scared. They run through their warm-ups with a quiet confidence and swagger while the Roots play in the background. They know the era of boring basketball is at an end, and they know the Dubs are the next movement.

Tipoff. Duncan wins it, but gets his pocket picked by Baron later in the possession. Fast break alley-oop to Monta. The Warriors play fast, intimidating, freewheeling ball and jump out on a 11-2 run. Jax nails a trey in Bowen's face, and Pops calls time in disgust. Cue music. The fans rise to their feet, knowing this is only the beginning. Duncan looks like the dude's face at :13, which may be either complete horror, his normal face, or both.

Spurs come out strong from the time out. Warriors make some dumb turnovers, the three-ball stops dropping...it happens. Worst of all though, is that Duncan is just having his way with Harrington. Nelson calls a timeout, but he's had like ten cans of Bud, and he's a little fuzzy about how to deal with the Spurs run. Suddenly, R. Kelly's sweet croon booms out of the PA: "Aight, now we got that out of the way. Let's double up!" Of course. Nelson puts Mbenga and Andris on the big man, who harass him enough to slow down the Spurs.

Still, Dubs go into the half down a couple. They need to find their rhythm and get back to playing their game. Warriors ball isn't afraid to look stupid, because when they're feeling it, they know they can hit those deep shots all day. They gotta get stupid dumb and hyphy. They gotta rep Oakland.

The rest of the game is close, and with ten seconds left, the Warriors are down one, so of course they give it to Baron. He drives hard to the hoop. Duncan gets a handful of his arm on the way up, which is the only reason Baron misses the shot, but now he's got no time left on the clock and two free throws to win the game. Baron needs inspiration. He needs the theme song to Jurrasic Park.

And of course he hits those shots. Come on now.

The song that the team runs out to the court for the intros has to be Del the Funkee Homosapien's classic " Catch a Bad One", because the opening cello loop is the catchiest thing ever sampled . By the time the layers pile on in this track, the roaracle will be going insane and bobbing their heads, and the 15%-20% that love and know Hiero will be happy...or everyone will be confused and think that the voice from Gorillaz sounds oddly familiar.

After the 1st quarter, the warriors will either have a hot start or be severely cold. Because of this uncertainty, you have to let the crowd know that the dubs still mean business and are just warming up by dropping " Killa Whale" by Dre Dog. This is another bay classic, that is important to play at the Roaracle simply becuase some of these kids in attendance need a history lesson on the new Jim Jones. Plus, you know Jack will be lyp-syncing the words and doin' a little dance that will have Matt Steinmetz at a loss for a words.  

The Halftime Song has to be " Soulja Boy Tell'em" because now that Stephane Lasme is gone, none of the rookies have any charisma or swagger so it just adds to the entertainment. Between Wright's ears and Bellinelli's Rambo-esque mop, it will be a " Great Time Out" and refreshing break from Franco Finn's " Let's get excited and wacky" commentary. Did anyone hear how loud people were booing him at last friday's Denver game? Besides, kids still eat this song up, and parents still have no clue what the dance is all about, so with all the replays they do on the big screen, it's perfect.I know we're all sick of the song, but the thug youth will eat it up. You need a little bit of this and that for everyone.

After the 3rd quarter, you throw the entire crowd for a loop and drop " Unbelieveable" by EMF. This is the obligatory cheesy song that has everyone dancing and making noise (cause the dubs just went on a 14-2 run to end the quarter), but then realizing that they are only doing so because they are drizz-anked off that overpriced $11 tall Miller Lite ( why did they downgrade from Stella Artois so soon? ) arrrrgh! You have to please the hipsters that came out from the Mission to check out the Warriors, so this song will please their American Apparrel entrenched heart. Plus, they still sing this song at kareoke, or at least I do.

The final song you go with...well this is the situation. Popovich has just finally lost it and been ejected, and he is shocked while tryin to argue his case, while holding back tears because of the spurs 25 point deficit. So you go with the most popular song on radio: " too late to aplogize" by one republic featuring timbaland. The audience catches the irony and smiles, and eva longaria makes eye contact with me.

THE END

The Warriors have almost the mind set of the people in Oakland, we love Bay Area music. BD and Jackson cranking that during the preseason game in Hawaii. The music needs to hype up the players and bring the Oracle to its feet! Bring the "We Believe" experience into every game the Warriors play.

1.    As the lights dim in the Oracle on a Monday against the 06-07 NBA Champs and the fans get prepared for the introduction of the players, the music of "Fort Minor - High Road" should be playing during the video on the monitor. This sets the aspect of how the Warriors were "running empty" and now they are in their highest peak. When the players are being introduced the song can continue and a change up to the beat of the o so popular "Lupe Fiasco - Superstar Feat. Matthew Santos" cause the cameras are here and everyone is here to see the fall of the 06-07 NBA Champs

2.    As a DJ, the beginning of the first
quarter should be all excitement, "Guns N Roses - Welcome to the Jungle" will bring all the spectators to its feet and cheering as Dubs roll in with couple of jump shots. We can't forget we are in the Bay Area, the chorus beat of "MIMS - Like This", surely BD will be stunning with his moves.

3.    The 2nd quarter, Warriors are behind by 2 points to the Spurs, and the faces of the Bay Area fans knows this will be the explosive quarter. The Oakland native Mistah F.A.B., his song "Go Damn Dumb" will just stir the fans as Jackson nails those 3s. And we can't forget "E40 - Tell Me When To Go"cause Nelly knows when to put his players on the floor.

4.    As DUBS make it back into the court as they are trailing by 8, we know the Spurs will go down, a snip it of "Young Joc - It's Going Down" will bring the vibe back into the arena as the fans find their seats. "T.I. -Big Thing Popin" will just pump the Warrior sideline as Al rushes for a fast break over Duncan and Barnes hits those corner 3s. A short chant of "DO IT" will be heard in the arena.

5.    Fourth quarter is dawning upon us, and we know the explosive BD and Jack will ignite. "Jay-Z - Encore" can be a song to highlight what BD and Jack has in store for the Oracle. As Spurs calls for a timeout to regain composure, the beat of "Lil' Wayne and Birdman - Stunnin Like My Daddy" because the Bay Area people knows the Warriors will take this home. 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1, DUBS WIN AND ALL DOUBTERS WILL BE HIT WITH THE "Kanye West - Can't Tell Me Nothing" CAUSE NOTHING CAN BRING DOWN THE WARRIORS

I'll make the introduction short seeing as how I've already used about 2,000 words... these are my five track picks to include in a typical Warriors game. I'll be straight with all of you- it's pretty biased towards the type of music I listen to, and it probably wouldn't fit what a mainstream crowd would like to hear every home game for 41 games. Still, I think this track list would be cool to implement every few home games, just so we don't tire out such classics as the Mortal Kombat theme and "We Will Rock You". On to the list...

My all-time favorite Hong Kong movie growing up was God of Gamblers, in which Chow Yun-Fat starred as Ko Chun, the movie's namesake. Not only did Ko Chun look like a straight up gangster dressed in his expensive suits while being surrounded by briefcases filled with money, he was also virtually unbeatable whether he was gambling heads-up at a high stakes poker table, or dueling bad guys with twin Berettas in shopping mall parking garages John Woo style. He was the quintessential risk-taking, gun-slinging, "unstoppable baby" badass. Sound like an NBA team you know and love?

The lights of Oracle Arena dim. A live band readies itself to play the above theme. Drums begin to beat. Twin spotlights fall onto the player tunnel. The Warriors starters emerge, single file, amidst the majestic blaring of trumpets, eruptions of fire, and the loud screams of fans. Each starter, like Chow Yun-Fat in the above clip, is dressed to kill in what appear to be expensive designer suits, albeit with some 2008 updates:  a military jacket here, a bullet fedora there. On both sides of the Warriors players are the Warrior Girls, serving as the players' entourage, dressed just as splendidly yet seductively in lavish evening gowns accented with long satin elbow length gloves and silk scarves, all in the official team colors. The starters are introduced and honored by the crowd, and once the music winds down to an end, the players rip their suits off their chests to reveal their home uniforms (they're tear-away suits like the ones at the end of this old Vince Carter commercial: http://youtube.com/watch?v=kiGO1vr6gGg ), tip and toss their hats to crowd, and prepare for tip-off. The Warrior Girl attire functions in a similar fashion as well, with their strip down to game-time attire an entertaining pre-game spectacle all in itself.

I'm very surprised that I haven't heard this song at sporting events. I think one of its great qualities is that it is a mainstream song that everyone and their mother is familiar with (dun-da-dun-dun... dun-dun-dun... dun-da-dun-dun... dun-dun-dun... classic secret agent guitar chords) yet because of Moby's updated tack on the track, its modern and fast enough to be used in a raucous arena filled with 20,000 fans (although I am also a huge fan of the original- pure classic). Sure, I bet there would be some licensing and royalty issues when it comes to the use of this song, but I'd fill out the paper work myself to replace old La Bouche tracks with this beat.

In game I see it being played after the Dubs go up by a dozen and their opponents are forced to take a time-out. I absolutely HATE IT when the opposing thinks they can deflate the energy of the opposing team and its fans by merely calling a time-out. I advocate that this song be played on the jumbotron as loud as league rules will allow, along with a highlight reel of the layups, dunks, and 3-bombs that lead to the opponent's time-out, all set to and fairly synched with the music. And if that doesn't keep the crowd riled up, I just don't know what will! - oh yeah. I forgot. Free t-shirts. Launch a few of those into the crowd at the same time as well, and it will be absolutely deafening @ Oracle.

First off, 99% of the time, I have zero problems with cheerleader performances. I could care less what a group of a dozen plus scantly clad women with pom poms do at a game, so long as they are doing something. Complaining about cheerleaders at virtually any sporting event would be like cursing Santa Clause on Christmas Day for forgetting to bring you four AA batteries for your brand new Game Boy. You just don't do it.

That being said, I would like to -kindly- suggest that the Warrior Girls perform some routines to music that is out of the norm for most cheerleading squads. As much as I love the Pussycat Dolls and Top 40 (read: just kidding) it would be interesting if they could pull off a dance routine set to a song like this. I chose "Unafraid" simply because I felt it was the adjective that best described our Golden State team (and because I was looking in my Techno/Trance music folder and was running out of ideas- I'm honest). Seriously though, I imagine you could do a lot with a routine to a track like this, especially with the arena lighting system. Most cheerleader routines rely almost entirely on skimpy outfits and popular music- which again, I have no problem with, but would definitely like to see something different every once in a while.

I know this song would most likely be chosen by fans if asked what music/song they'd like to hear at games, and I definitely know for sure it has already been chosen by several participants in this contest, and I absolutely don't care that it has. This song kicks ass. Not including "Game Time" by Track Runners would be like not including The Godfather in a list of all-time great movies simply because it was popular. Give the people what they want. And if it ain't broke, then use it!

Out of every song listed here, or hell, that I've heard in my entire life, this one gets me the most pumped. And like with Moby's take on the James Bond theme, I think it should be used to help bring some energy and life back into the building. I've been at many a Warrior home game where the end of half-time horn sounds, and what looks like half the crowd in attendance is still straggling back to their seats even after the third quarter and kicked off. I understand it (those food concession lines get long) but that doesn't mean I have to like or accept it. Imagine the average Warrior diehard standing in line for a hot dog or pizza, the horn sounds, and "Game Time" starts playing. That fan will be sprinting back to their seat to see what's happening on the hardwood, and rightfully so.

I actually really like "The Mortal Kombat Theme" (I was a sucker for the first MK movie) but I definitely agree that it has become way overused in sports arenas. Still, I think it would only be fitting if another one of my favorite pieces of video game music took its place, and for that, I turned to another set of warriors. The release of Street Fighter II: The World Warrior in the early 90s not only served to revitalize the arcade scene and define a new genre of gaming, it also provided thousands of hours of entertainment while we waited for the Warriors to regain their form and return to playoff glory. And wait we would. I have absolutely no scientific way of proving this, but I'm dead certain that if it weren't for the stress relief provided by Street Fighter II and its sequels, the pent up rage, frustration, and anxiety from following our beloved Dubs during their playoff drought might possibly have resulted in an increased number of murders and suicides in the Bay Area. Thank god for SFII, 7-11s, and rolls of quarters.
To me, of all the stage themes found in Street Fighter II (all of which kick ass), Ken's stage theme seems to capture the feeling of our Golden State Warriors the best- an up and down frantic fight to the death. In the game, Ken's stage opens with you facing your opponent on an empty shipyard dock with a small crowd of boat passengers cheering in the distance. The American flag is seen in the distance, blowing in the wind, and along with the uplifting blare of trumpets, there seems to be an air of hope. The electric guitar kicks in. The chords, which once rose and fell very calmly like ships at sea, suddenly become quick and frantic. The pitch rises, and soon you realize as the fight goes on and the sun begins to set, so too do your chances of victory and survival.
Only at Oracle Arena, our small crowd of boat passengers might just be a good twenty-thousand strong. There's a small sense of hope for our Warriors as the players listen to the cheers of the fans while gazing at the championship banners hanging in the rafters. Standing in the way of adding to those banners isn't a one on one death match at an empty dock, but a five on five showdown on the hardwood before them. Down by 1. The music kicks. 15 seconds to play. The guitar sounds. No timeouts left. The tempo begins to pick up as time winds down along with a potential Warriors victory and the season's playoff aspirations. Baron can shoot the open three or take the fighter's chance at the lane. Four seconds. He takes that chance. Three seconds. He needs a K.O. right here and right now- no floaters, no layups. Two seconds. He takes off and cocks the ball back, away from the two defenders. One second. BD to the RIM!! IT IS!! ... ... ...
