Report: Watson signed to a 10 day contract

According to Draft Express...

http://www.draftexpress.com/blog/D-League-Blog/

The Golden State Warriors have added point guard CJ Watson, who becomes the ninth call-up of the current D-League season. A 23 year-old in his second year out of Tennessee, Watson was selected 5th overall by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the 2007 D-League draft. The top ranked player on the DraftExpress call-up list, he will receive the first 10 day contract of the season from a NBA team.   In his last game against the Austin Toros, the point guard finished with 42 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in a closely contested double overtime loss.

I hope Nelson gives this kid more of a shot than he has our rookies.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Good
Let the call-ups begin! I'll be waiting patiently for the next Buke.

I wanna
see this guy play. Let's see what he can do, but I hope the W's essentially make a trade that is really going to impact the team.

paperwork issues...
Plus California needed to "accept" his felony residence IF and only if Illinois would release him.

Whew...
I like this SOOO much better than Payton. A young guy with upside playing for a chance to stay in the show.

Give him some burn Nellie and let's hope for Buke 2.0!

My only reservation is...if we expect him to be a legit backup for Baron, that's a lot tougher assignment than we gave Buke last year. Running the offense in Nellieball ain't easy, and we're gonna need that from him (passing/good decision-making) more than scoring.

Agree
Well it looks like he will have 10 days to prove that he has the talent intelligence and athleticism to run the warriors offense. Hopefully he will be another diamond in the rough like Bukie.

I don't see him running the warriors offense anytime soon. It's going to take a while to learn all the plays and defensive scemes.

I really thought Aaron Miles from several seasons ago would have been a good backup pg. I think he's playing somewhere in europe right now.

Plays? WHAT plays?!
Dubs run the fewest and simplest sets in the league, there's not much there to memorize offensively

Defensively Nelson's "rules" are unconventional to be sure, but there's not many plays ...

this is the way
I see the warriors finding a backup pg. trading players for a backup is wasteful when there is a surplus of younger, hungrier, faster ballers down at the d-league level. The big reason most of those dudes aren't in the NBA is a lack of experience, not skill.

asset management
the assets we can trade need to be used to land a big, we should be able to find a backup PG without using what we need to land frontline depth and can't afford to spend what trade-able players we have on a minimal minute performer ...
