GSoF: Super Bowl!

Giants - Patriots.

Yeah yeah, the Patriots beat the Chargers. Whatever...that wasn't too unexpected...

But Eli Manning and the G-Men are in the Super Bowl? Say what?!?! If anyone got to catch that game two weeks ago, you caught a very heart pounding contest. Favre throwing INT and INT? Tynes missing field goal after field goal and then finally hitting the game winner? Eli not crying for once?

Go Eli??

I will say this - the Giants deserve their props. Call it skill, call it luck, they made it to the Super Bowl and who really saw that coming? I applaud the G-Men...congratulations.

Can the Patriots repeat history again against the Giants tomorrow? Hit the jump to see my thoughts!

Prediction
New York Giants @
New England Patriots

Yeah yeah, it's the obvious pick. Whatever. Regardless of what you want to say or think, history will be made. The 19-0 season will be seen and the '72 Dolphins will be crying tomorrow night. We see a good game though - one of the best from the last few years. The Giants pushed and pushed in their first meeting this season in Week 17 and played with heart in a game that was "meaningless" to them. Burress guaranteed a win - bad move, man. Remember last time that a player guaranteed a win against the Patriots? Prepare to be picked on by the defense... The Patriots are not unstoppable and can lose to the Giants. But not tomorrow....

Got faith in the Giants tomorrow?

I just can't wait till all the news is confirmed that finally discredits the Pats super bowls.  If they can find evidence that proves the Pats filmed the Rams walkthrough before that Super Bowl, then the NFL will be in a world of hurt.
Anywho... I say G-Men win 35-31.  Brady can't rely on the kicker to win at the last second, and like last year against the Colts he chokes on the last drive on throws a pick.

Go 49ers!
I never ever want Tom Brady to have as many Superbowl rings as Montana. Even though he only has 1 more to go.

by warriorgirl on Feb 3, 2008 4:05 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Cuz
Brady's a batty boy and no one wants Boston-area sports to dominate.
Plus, the NYG are in the NFC.
AND, I'm tired of people comparing the Patriots to great teams of the 80s and 90s and people that actually think Tom Brady is better than Joe Montana OR Stevie Young.

That's why.
Plus, San Mateo only has Mr. Pickles going for itself.

GIANTS!!!!!
Best Super Bowl ever? Possibly?

Glad the Giants spoiled the Patsies bid to perfection. Gotta give all the credit to them.

But what about Bill Bellichik running off the field like a whining bitch!!!! Disgraceful.

no need to feel sorry for his ass
He felt sorry for the Giants because he ditched them and didn't think they would be any good this season. He actually believed they needed him hahaha

I like how Brady was baffled
when Plaxico Buress predicted a Giants 23-17 win, and said, "We're only going to score 17 points?" Guess what Tom, you scored 14.

good game?
last half of the 3rd and the 4th was epic but other than that, it was pretty boring with some lackluster commercials.

Ouch
That smarts.

But I have to say, that was one of the hardest fought and most entertaining Superbowls I've seen, even if "my team" blew their shot at immortality.

I'm actually sort of a gravy-train-rider where the Pats are concerned. I follow them only when they're doing well, and kind of ignore them when they're mediocre. I actually grew up randomly rooting for the Cowboys (much to my liberal parents' chagrin). The Ws, the Red Sox, and Cal are the three teams I stick with through thick and thin (mostly thin, at least till the recent Sox renaissance).

Still, I was on the bandwagon squarely enough that the loss felt like a swift kick the 'nads. That one play where Manning squirted loose from a sure sack and Tyree caught the ball on his helmet keeps replaying itselfin my head: given the double-improbability of it and the do-or-die circumstances, that has to be the most amazing Superbowl play I've ever seen.

Anyway, props to the Giants. They were luckier, played better, and seemed to want it more.

Thank God I still have the Dubs, and pitchers and catchers report to AZ/FL in a couple of weeks...

19-0 "Perfect Season" T-Shirts
Some guy made 5000 T-shirts.  Selling them on craigslist for only $2 or $8500 for 5000. LOL

Hey, I would get one if I were a Giants fan, and rock that shit for like three weeks straight. The pain...

Oh can't forget
Big ups to R Dizzle for holding down GSoF for 17 regular season weeks, 3 weeks of the playoffs, and 1 fun super bowl. I thought it was overall a really boring NFL season (painful locally with the 49ers and Raiders), but R Dizzle made it much more fun than should've been.
