Rumor: Juan Dixon and Joey Graham ?!?!?!

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/marty_burns/02/20/deadline.notes/index.html

Marty Burns reporting Pietrus for Dixon and Graham.

Come on Mully, you can do better than this!

I believe Mully has higher standards than this so I am not giving much credit to the report.

If this trade happens,  Dixon would be back up for Baron Davis.  Graham does have skills and could be good back up for Steven Jackson.   However, is he a rookie or 2nd year player? Sounds like a bench warmer.

Wouldnt
we then have 16 on the roster?

Watson
is better than Dixon by far. Juan doesn't even play.

Dixon
Would at least get a chance to play regular minutes under Nelson. All though watching Watson last night, I don't know why he doesn't get the PT to rest Baron. I just don't see why they would have any interest in Graham. We already have a log jam at the 3 and taking on graham means we have to cut someone.

who
can we cut? i dont see anybody on our roster that we are able to cut unless you count POB? but why would we cut POB? is Pietrus really that useless that we would trade for players that would contribute nothing anyways. In that case I'd rather keep Pietrus.

I actually
don't think it is that bad of a move. To tell you the truth I would take even a 2nd round pick for pietrus, anything really as he is gone after these 20 something games and will most likely be on the bench or hurting the team if he was to play the remaining 20 something games. I think Dixon could potentially help out as he is an athletic 2 guard(though undersized like monta) who is a pure shooter(45% from 3pt land, although not too many attempts). We really don't have a pure shooter on the team, especially at the guard position, also we don't really have a pure SG besides Monta, and Dixon adds a dimension to the guards as a spot up, accurate 3 point shooter(unlike Monta). As for Grahm we are loaded at the 3 but he could provide a big, strong, athletic body who actually rebounds the basketball. I see him as similar to Buike in height and weight, but Grahm being more  of a banger, hustle-rebounder(even though buike does this, while shooting the three-why isnt he getting pt again?) Anyways I think it would be an interesting trade, but I do hope Mullin can find something better. I also don't like the idea of cutting someone either.

why?
why would we give up our trade bait for garbage? I wouldnt even take on those two guys for our situation for free

by Dyno Garage SF on Feb 20, 2008 2:19 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

ugh
theres nothing id like to see more than pietrus being traded but I was thinking more along the lines of a 2 for 1 deal where we give up pietrus and someone else for one legitimate player.

cant we just trade pietrus to a decent team for a late 1st round draft pick? hes definitely not worth a lottery pick but is there someway we could jus get a 20-25th pick

agreed
cant we just trade pietrus to a decent team for a late 1st round draft pick

My sentiments exactly. I would much rather give him up for a future prospect, than take on any players with a contract that extends beyond this season. OR even have to cut a current player to take on additional marginally talented players.

dumb idea
can anyone really say pietrus is worse than either of these guys? Plus, we would have to buy someone out to make this work with our roster spots. Basically pietrus and somebody else for dixon and graham? Theres no way this makes us more productive in any area whatsoever.

If we are going to trade pietrus its gotta be for someone who will actually contribute. Otherwise what is the point? We get less depth, just a couple more guys to sit on the end of our bench?
