Warriors could sign Jeff Mclnnis?

Well the two teams that are involved since Bobcats cut him are Dallas and Warriors. Does anyone think he would be a good fit here? I think so. He is a fast type ( I've been watching the bobcat's games only for JRich, and I've seen Mclnnis play) of player that would work well in Don Nelson's system. I say go for it. Instead of using Monta at point at times. I know we have CJ Watson. But it would be good to have a vet backup point guard that know what is going on. Nothing against CJ Watson a good shooter and player. Especially when Baron is tired we could have a vet point guard as a backup, especially when playoffs come. Well here is the article.

post season roster.
The Warriors would have to cut a player (and eat a contract) to sign anyone at this point.  Further, I believe a player signed now isn't eligible for the post-season.  That's why Cassell was eager to get his buyout done when it was.  Would you rather have McInnis for the remainder of the regular season and no backup in the post season, or CJ for the duration?

according to the article
the Bobcats' decision to cut him allows for the possibility he could land on a playoff team.

McInnis had to be waived by midnight tonight to be eligible for a post-season roster.

Still not gonna happen.
To be eligible for another team's playoff roster, he'd have to have joined that team before March 1.  He had to be cut by then for another team to pounce immediately.  Normally, in a buyout situation, he'd also have to clear waivers and then be signed, but since he was making the vet min, he wasn't bought out. He was just put on waivers. At the minimum, we could have claimed him (had we waived another player) without waiting 2 days for him to "clear" so we could have had him the second he was released.   But that didn't happen.  He couldn't play for us (or anyone other than Charlotte) in the playoffs.

Let's see
  • 33 years old
  • Five straight seasons of declining production (PER of 15.3, 12.4, 9.2, 7.7, 6.7)
  • Not a good shooter (43.1% career) or three-point shooter (32.8% career, but hasn't cracked 20% in three years)
  • Not a particularly good distributor (5.7 ast per 36 mins. career)
  • Horrible rebounder (2.6 reb per 36)
  • Doesn't force turnovers (0.8 stl per 36)
I haven't watched much of Charlotte in recent years, but what am I missing? On the face of it, I'd way rather have Monta or CJ at PG and Kelenna at SG than this dude anywhere near the court.

On the "bright side," if he isn't eligible for the post-season, Nellie won't be tempted to put him in...

Are you talking about Keith McLeod?
Anyone want him back?

Statistically, they're almost the same dude.

McLeod:

#  29 years old
# Five straight seasons of almost no production
# Not a good shooter (35.7% career) or three-point shooter (28.2% career)
# Not a particularly good distributor (5.2 ast per 36 mins. career)
# Horrible rebounder (2.6 reb per 36)
# Better than MacInnis at forcing turnovers though(1.4 stl per 36)

To be fair, I haven't seen enough of McInnis the past couple of years to remember what kind of on-the-ball defender he is. Also, McLeod was one of the least fun players to watch ever. Pound the ball. Pound the ball. Pound the ball. Pass it to the guy nearest to him or miss a shot.

CJ Watson
is better than McGinnis, who's too slow for Nelson, anyhow.

McGinnis.
Since George McGinnis hasn't played since 1981, I'm not surprised that Watson's better or faster.

Sam Vincent, Bobcats head coach,
said that playing Jeff McInnis is like playing 4 on 5 on offense. I don't think we need him.
It's almost like the Warriors have 6 guys out there... they always have a guy open! - Jon Barry commentating game 3 last year
