WE NO LONGER BELIEVE!!!

Compared to the joy that usually comes with knocking off the Mavs, the overwhelming emotion from Nelson after the game was relief. He's a Warrior, as we all know from his rotations (or lack thereof), but he made a point of commenting how happy the overall energy made him tonight. Harrington and Barnes got special mention, as did Ellis for his super-human ability to bounce back from hard hits. The post-game comments from the player betrayed a bit more confidence. Bounce-back games for Al and Kelenna obviously did a lot to lift spirits, but it was also nice to stare down the main rival for the final playoff spot and see a team much less frightening then we remember. March Madness? Wait until we get to April.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

You got me
on the somewhat misleading title. I thought you were going to rant about the quiet crowd last night doing the wave and all, like no one cares about the playoffs. I see now you meant "We don't just believe, we KNOW." :)

Where are you reading these Nelson comments from? I'd like to read them too.

yea
I was at the Mav's game and i couldn' believe when i saw the wave going. I don't even think it belongs in baseball ( die hard A's fan) much less an important need to win basketball game. I think it just shows how many bandwagon fans have jumped aboard.

all those people who don't have on any warriors gear are those people

don't
exactly have to be rocking gear to be a faithful fan.

As far as that we know motto. I think it's lame purely because a Laker fan tried to talk shi* saying our We Believe slogan was lame. he said it was pathetic for Warrior fans to hope just to make the playoffs.

What he didn't know is that our We Believe slogan was borne upon dismantling years of non-playoff frustration and meaningless basketball in March and April.

His words exactly:

Go Lakers!! We DON'T believe, we KNOW.'

Body: i just think it sad that warriors fan get all excited for nothing. I mean the slogan "We believe" is kind of sad, its like keeping your hopes up for nothing. you know your not going to win the title, but you're just happy to be in the playoffs. just remember, kobe ain't no dirk and the lakers are no mavericks. you won both games against the lakers without the real "lakers" on the floor. first game kobe got a groin injury and basically didn't play in the second half. second game, no gasol and bynum. if you want the lakers in the playoffs, then youre in for a rude awakening.

WE DONT BELIEVE, WE KNOW!

The We Believe slogan is fine...

WAVE
I was at the game too.  It started in the upper level and then finally made it's way down to the lower, but it was while BUKE was shooting FTs and he missed his first one as the "WAVE" reached right in front of him!  They were paying attention to being a part of the wave instead of what was going on on the court!  IDIOTS!!!

It's great that the crowd was getting involved in a unified activity, but not while FTs are being shot, especially when it's our own TEAM!  C'mon people!!!

lunch debate
fanlite: "Warriors are beating teams like the Lakers and Mavs who aren't at full strength. They don't belong in the playoffs and even if they did get there will get blown."

Reply: "We believe."

my suggestion, don't mess with a good thing - "we know" is for after the playoffs ...

by hardcore on Mar 31, 2008 6:05 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

exactly...
remember when Houston went with "choke city" - well they didn't change it to "clutch city" until after they won. We need to keep believing until we actually win a title.

sdf
2 things

we believe is a lot more catchy and until someone puts in effort like paul wong did to start that, there wont be a new one

is the wave really that terrribly distracting? ive never seen it done to an opposing team as opposed to say ballons or bang sticks. :p it started during a timeout and maybe it wasnt the best thing to do, but people around here make it sound like such a travesty

Its not a big deal and in no way is it a distraction to the players. Although it is a distraction for the crowd itself. I bet half the people didn't realized Bukie missed his free throw.

But...
in an away arena you expect to be distracted and heckled and whatnot. At home games you expect no distractions. But a great idea for the next time an opponent is shooting free throws at Oracle would be for all the fans to be dead silent except for the occasional awkward cough, and also for there to be a giant wave. I bet he'd miss the free throw.

I don't know but I liked
"we're back." Saying "we know" is such a lie to me. I mean, we don't know until April.

haha...very true
I mean, don't even have to look in April. Every single game will you that's a lie. I mean, do we really know which Warriors will show to the game? Much more, if we are to win the game regardless of who we play or what's the score before the last quarter?

save
"we're baaaaack" for the next time we play the Mavs in the playoffs? ;)

The Wave
I admittingly took part. I just thought it was something different and was just having fun on my Friday (Monday & Tuesdays are my days off from work). I didn't mean to disrespect the game.

Dude...
you did no disrespect to the game. This topic is dead anyway - way overblown.

I like
Now Do You Believe? (once we're in of course)

Anyway, I just want to say that no matter what happens with the last bit of the season I'm proud of our team for putting together a better season than last year and for competing in a crazy good western conference.  Any other year we are vying for the 1 seed.  It's been fun and after being a fan for my entire 28 year life this is the kind of basketball I love seeing from our team even though we have some serious ups and downs.

LETS GO WARRIORS!!
