Warriors (W-L): 45-28

Spurs (W-L): 51-23

Time: 5:30pm PST

TV: No TV! This is an outrage!

Radio: KNBR 1050

Phew. That was a quick visit to the 9th spot. Hopefully it was enough of a scare to get this Warriors team over the hump to cement themselves in the top 8. We're battling for our playoff lives, the Spurs are battling for homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs. Baron vs Parker. Monta vs Bowen. Manu vs Jax. Beans vs Duncan. But there's one matchup that's more important than all of those. More important than Nellie vs Pop. This matchup is HUGE, it's of monumental proportions! If you don't know what I'm talking about, you'll have to hit the jump.

I'll be honest, on paper, I don't like the Warriors chances in this game.

  • The Spurs have won 7 in a row
  • They're 31-6 at home
  • Tied for #1 in the conference
  • Have their big 3 back
  • Just blew out the Houston Rockets
  • Peaking at the exact perfect time

Can the Warriors win this game? Of course, they can beat anyone on any day. But to win in San Antonio, they'll have to play a near flawless game. Pietrus needs to play (Haha I can't believe I wrote that). If he doesn't, the Warriors will need some sort of a solid contribution from Al and the bench. Monta, Baron, and Jax will do their thing, you know exactly what to expect from those guys. They will keep us in the game. It's the rest of the guys that are the wild card.

Which Al Harrington are we going to get tonight? The hustling, rebounding, and energy guy we saw against Dallas, or the stink up the joint Al we saw in Denver? Flat out, he hasn't played well and now is the wrong time to crawl back into his turtle shell. He whipped out the Dikembe finger wag on JKidd last game (interesting considering I think those were his first and second blocks of the season). Maybe last game is his turn-the-corner game where he gets that swagger back. His shooting is all about confidence after all - he looks scared to shoot sometimes. Get that swagger back Al, we need it.

Will Kelenna continue to step up? He's seemed to give solid minutes nightly ever since Pietrus went down. He was HUGE in the 4th against Dallas nailing clutch shots. But he was awful shooting against Denver. We'll need another solid, if not spectacular game from him.

Matt Barnes. I love the guy but he's been so ridiculously inconsistent. He's the guy you just want to cheer for, want to do well. If or when he gets back to that level of energy and production from last year (and it might be too late for him to find that groove) this team will hit another gear. But he does play solid D and does the little things to earn minutes.

Look, a loss doesn't kill us. The worst we could do is fall 0.5 games behind Denver for the 8th spot (if Denver wins). A win is huge. A win boosts our confidence. A win shows that the Warriors are afraid of nobody and can walk in anywhere and silence the crowd. A win gives us momentum to carry forward to walk into big D and take that game. A win tonight propels the Warriors back to the playoffs.

The revolution and this game will not be televised
It sucks that this game is not on TV. I'm gonna have to tune into 1050 and use my imagination. Of course the Spurs are the favorite but hopefully they're over confident, which happens alot around the league, and they take the dubs for granted. It'd be nice to head into Dallas with identical records. I guess we'll see... or rather hear.

If you assume wins against the teams actively trying to lose (Memphis, Seattle), the teams who have nothing to play for (Sacto, LAC), a win tonight gives us 5.  We'll win at least one of the other three (@Dal, @NO, Den, @Phx) and get to 51-31.  A loss tonight and we probably need to beat both Dallas and Denver.

Now that it's April, I hope the Warriors finally find that 5th gear. They haven't played with that steamroll mode that we saw last year. They still seem like they're in cruise control mode. I'm still hoping that they're pacing themselves for home stretch of the season and playoffs.

If the Warriors play like they're still in cruise control mode, then I don't see how they're going to win. But then again, they've surprised us before, like that @New Orleans game where we executed our plays against them and won.

This is the biggest game of the year. We NEED this one!

basically, people post the NBA LP links online.  they've been having some trouble lately, so it remains to be seen if tonite's links will be problem free.  nevertheless, all you have to know is that the links are only good for a few minutes.  that is, you have to open the links within a few minutes of them being posted (then you're good for the game, or until your computer/internet spazzes out).  if you get some error link "link invalid", the link has expired.

again, i know this is kinda shady, but nba doesnt even offer an "nba.tv" type thing like mlb.tv...

14 points in the paint.  terrible.  I know Duncan is there but let's at least penetrate and kick instead of the patented Jackson jabstep -> brick?  

And these announcers seriously are getting on my nerves, not only do they not call the play by play accurately (calling a o-board that Barnes tips out to Davis a "lucky long rebound") but the bias is unbelievable.

spurs will tighten their defense in the 3rd. Jackson and Ellis will take some ill advised shots.

Pop is like Jackson he'll make some adjustments and then we are cooked. Theres a reason we haven't won here since 1997. But then again the streaks gotta end, but probably not this year and not this game. This is our lose 1 game so be prepared for a loss.

the warriors can't win with ellis and davis being the majority of the offense.  those guys are sweet, but since when have two guards carried a team anywhere in the playoffs?

we need outstanding performances from at least two of, and probably three, of the following guys: harrington, barnes, pietrus, steve jax, biedrins, bookie or the rook.

right now davis is playing well, ellis is trying to shoot his way through a slump, and the rest of the team is "fair to middling".  

of course, the spurs are bound to make us look bad, but we can definitely do better than this.  MP3, anoyone?

The Spurs announcers are soo bias!!!..Its starting to annoy the shit out of me..If we lose tonight I am going to blame our defense,jacksons misses, and not taking it into the rim more often..because every time jackson jacks up one of his shots spurs end up scoring in the other end....I really hope warriors are playing an april fools joke on us and the end up pulling their heads out of their ass and play some freakin' defense

spurs announcers sound really cocky probably because their team has championships lately.

it doesn't seem to trickle down from the pop or duncan though, so I guess the announcers are just asshats.

plus sean elliot was way overated as a player and never play up to his potential.

Has anyone else noticed?
That lately on the road most of the players play terrible, possibly because they are intimidated or scared. All I know is every single time we have a home game the bench "steps up," and we get happy with Barnes, or Harrington, or Croshere. And then we go on the road and we can barely keep it close if and only if Davis, Jackson, and Ellis are having good games. And if any one of them is struggling, like tonight, it's over.

Also, there has been no ball movement from what I've seen, there was no ball movement against Denver, and  there wasn't enough against Dallas. Without our crowd I'm not feeling that good tomorrow.

We don't play defense, but we can't outscore teams shooting 37%. Denver has shot over 50% the past three games at least (and probably more).

This just isn't Warriors basketball. We haven't looked good for a full game since...Philadelphia? I can't even remember. Kind of sucks because although I'm happy with the J-Rich trade, but he had resilience, he wouldn't let us go out like this.

I'm praying the Warriors win tomorrow. We need this. Baron has it on automatic but Ellis and the bench have to step it up. I'll accept that this is Jack's off night since he has been playing well lately.

Fantasy Junkie, the Dallas game wasn't Harrington's turnaround game. Harrington's turnaround game will have to come on the road, because the home court can make players like Harrington and Buike play better. He has to get over the hump in a hostile environment for his lack of confidence to go away.

I know he got some stats in garbage time
but CJ Watson at the very least looks unafraid when he is in on the road. Much better than Matt Barnes. When was the last time anyone has seen Matt Barnes hit a midrange jumper? It's been like a month. And a midrange jumper on the road? It's been months. I don't care if he's not a rookie because he plays like one. Use Watson instead.

Best way to lose
Starters get a ton of rest, and we have nothing to blame the loss on except our players. I feel that they knew they had almost no shot at this game and wanted to get rest for the Dallas game. Just about everybody expected us to lose this game, so I'm happy we didn't burn energy trying to make a futile attempt at a comeback in the fourth.

the playoffs, have your fingers crossed for the best spot in the lottery. This team is starting to look more and more as a lottery team.

The way they play NO D, the way they DON'T share the ball, the way they look NOT interested on the court, the way they argue with the refs while the threes are raining down on us.

Let's just stop right now and face the truth. Altough I hate Charles B., he is right, we will die with our jumpers and altough I'am so glad and happy when we play our best, I know we can't win the C-ship with our style and that makes me so sad. I BELIVE (in future to come)

We can win with the guys we have and the small ball style. We just can't win when we abandon ball movement and play intimidated. We have to take it to opponents, and we have to do it as a team. We haven't been doing that enough lately. Jackson driving on three defenders won't get it done. Baron being the only consistent Warrior down the stretch won't get it done either.

I have a feeling
that Dirk will "miraculously" heal by tomorrow, and emotionally lift Dallas to a win. And then later we will find out that his injury wasn't that severe and  that Cuban and Johnson made it sound worse than it was so when Nowitzki came back he would be a hero and it would take some pressure off.

Hopefully he does try and play tomorrow but is still hurt, and goes 0-10. We need this one tomorrow more than we've needed any game this season. Without this we have no chance of a 3 way tie breaker, and we'll be what, 1.5 back not including the tiebreaker? Who's going to step up?

I think he is playing with an injury. He was limping around tonight and didn't seem to be able to elevate at all. During one of the timeouts after he made a 3, he grimaced in pain and limped to the bench. I'm wondering if it's that same toe injury that's been bothering him for a while. Anyone else know?

LETS GO!
The Warriors will step it up from now on! I know there's no way the Warriors would just end the season so WEAK! We're better than this, we didn't even put up a fight this game. Hopefully this loss is the last real "wake up call" we have for the rest of the season. Every game from here on out will be played with 100% effort and heart, hopefully.
