The GSoM-it Redwood Shores Game idea

When i proposed this idea last year, it got a fair amount of support because people were a little annoyed of the whole lockout situation. I was thinking of possibly reintroducing the the idea. WHAT CHALL THINK?

Marc Spears – Consequences and Repercussions

audio of Spears breaking it down for about 17 minutes. Talks about next steps, timing, if it was fair that the players didn't actually ever get to vote on the proposed deal. Guy sounds pretty depressed. Talks about a discussion he had with Steph Curry (@around 13:15 mark). Essentially says that Steph estimated he would be ok financially for about a year and a half if the lockout continues. Actually makes me real glad Reggie took the deal overseas...but makes me wonder about Udoh (recall that he recently got taken for over a quarter mil) Another good point towards the end (right at the last minute) about the strong draft class that will be coming in and how they will take away some minutes from some of the older, marginal players. So, maybe Radmanovic just retired

"Rest in peace, Marine World Africa USA." This TANK has really been a bummer and a half for us Dubs fans, but I got one bad-ass solution.

We spent about two years getting [the players] ready and we prepared them for the worst case scenario because I knew as I’ve indicated to you that the lockout was gonna occur two years ago. I can’t get away from the fact that David told me that they were going to lockout, that there were certain things they wanted and I said the only way you are going to get them is if you agree to and adopt an extended lockout. I think everything he’s done [has] convinced me that was their plan all along.

Video: NBA Lockout Continues With David Stern Announcing Cancellation Of NBA Preseason

As Ken Berger of CBS Sports reports, although the NBA owners and players are closer than they have been to a deal, they're still $80 million per year apart and the official cancellation of 2011-12...

This is a call to arms! In the midst of the second lockout fiasco of the year, we have reached a crossroads. In one direction is a full 82 game NBA season. In the other is a virtually meaningless, shortened season necessitated by the insatiable greed of the league's crotchety old owners and their dark overlord, David "Union Buster" Stern. Having seen too many of these scenarios come to light with nary a batted eyelash from the viewing public, I am throwing down the gauntlet. The following is a petition designed to demonstrate solidarity with the players union, and a demand for the product we so generously purchase from the NBA in so many forms. Please pass the following along to any SB Nation team site for which you are a member, and any other forum you think might help. I hear facebook is popular. Draw a line in the sand with me fellow fans, Stern be damned! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I, the signator, hereby demand the ratification of a new collective bargaining agreement between the NBA and its player's union, guaranteeing a full 82-game season. Should a single regular season game be canceled because of the current lockout, I promise to abstain from purchasing or viewing any NBA licensed product or media for the duration of the 2011-12 season and postseason.

Truth be told, I’m certainly no Lee fan, but I’d assumed that Biedrins had to be the amnesty choice myself, without putting much thought in it. But now it’s time to put some thought into it. And you know what? Now I think the best amnesty choice–if it also includes the salary-cap cleaning–would be Lee, and not Biedrins.

From Warriors amnesty primer: Who should they dump–Biedrins or Lee? | Talking Points. Tim Kawakami weighs in on Jonathan Abrams & Bill Simmons' earlier Grantland piece about who the Warriors should dump (posted earlier by GSOM commenter doubleteapot). The details of how the clause would work out are still unclear, but Kawakami settles on Lee as the best option.

Every minute that the NBA keeps its players locked out, the greater the chance that someone else will step in and start profiting off of them. Sunday's Battle of I-95 between Baltimore's Melo League team (Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Paul) and Philadelphia's club (Kyle Lowry, Tyreke Evans, Lou Williams) went off beautifully, with SI.com providing the live stream and commentary from writer Chris Mannix, and with the gorgeous Palestra playing host. The NBA didn't have a thing to do with that game ... and it sold out a gym and had any number of eyes glued to it...If the NBA cancels the season, someone will step up and standardize the delivery and execution of these summer games.

From Go Ahead, NBA: Make Yourself Irrelevant - SBNation.com by Tom Ziller, SBNation.com. A few of us discussed this possibility at the SBN blogger conference and we were somewhat split - obviously the capital NBA owners bring to the table is valuable. But it's an interesting point nonetheless as this thing drags on.
