Matt Herges apologizes for steroid use

Link to story here

DENVER -- Colorado Rockies reliever Matt Herges and first base coach Glenallen Hill have issued written apologies for using performance-enhancing substances.

Herges says he has "no excuse for my actions" and says he's deeply remorseful.

Herges was a stud in 2003 for the Gmen and I'm sorry to hear he's a part of the RoidAges.  Oh well we're stupid Americans and will eat up his apology like the fried foods we love.

Both issued their statements Wednesday, the same day Roger Clemens his former personal trainer, Brian McNamee, testified before Congress about drug use in baseball.

Nice timing on your apology, Matt.

Giants interested in Ensberg

This from an article in the chronicle this morning.

Trade talk: Barry Axelrod, the agent who represents pitcher Matt Morris, said Monday night he has not heard anything about a possible trade by today's 1 p.m. deadline. Axelrod also represents Sweeney and said general manager Brian Sabean hinted he might try to find Sweeney a spot on a contender. Also, ESPN's Peter Gammons reported the Giants are interested in third baseman Morgan Ensberg, who was designated for assignment by Houston.

Good to see the Giants exploring klesko-like opportunities.  Yes, I know it's Gammons we're talking about...but hey he was right on about the Braves and Texiera.  ;)

Any Grateful Dead fans here?

And of you dead-heads, how many of you have some cash lying around for this sweet little number?  Not a GD fan myself...but I'm sure there are people on here over 70 years of age who know of this.

Kidding!!  I just don't have that kind of money.

:(

Bonds open to, doesn't expect trade

Article from Insidebayarea.com

I never thought I needed a signature until I read this Bonds quote:

<quote>"They can trade me," Bonds said. "They can do that. I don't think they will, though. It's not like I want to be traded, man. I'm a Giant. I'm stuck here till the end."</quote>

And so we are.

Jazz in Seven

Sports Illustrated: Breakdown

This guy likes the Jazz in seven.  Makes sense.  I think one could make any prediction and have it sound plausible.  Er..maybe a sweep by either team isn't too likely.

Is it 9:30 CST yet?

Game Five and the truth about The Mavs

This paragraph says it all.  To quote Marcus Thompson II from insidebayarea.com:

Don't be fooled by the Game 5 victory. The Mavericks blew a 21-point lead. They had to hang on for a nail-biter at home against a Warriors squad experiencing its first close-out game. The Mavericks are a couple of made baskets by the Warriors from cleaning out their locker room today. A championship team wins this all-important game easily. A title-worthy team in this situation shifts to an extra gear when it has a team on the ropes, even if just for the perk of resting starters in preparation for Game 6.

Golden State of Mind in the Star-Telegram!

Hey guys!  I got misquoted!  I feel so famous...haha...I name-dropped GSOM when the writer asked if I knew anyone at the game.  Open up the paper today and the next thing I know...

Road Warriors

Not everybody wore Mavs blue and green at the AAC Sunday night. A half dozen or so were spotted wearing Warriors wear.

Ricky Martell of South San Francisco accepted a job transfer here with Bank of America just two weeks ago.

"I'm a huge Warriors fan," said Martell, 23, now living in Uptown Dallas. "I'm the envy of everybody back home."

Seated beneath the Budweiser sign behind Section 101, Martell held up a sign that read: I'm Just Happy To Be Here. Go Warriors."

He paid $150 for his ticket on goldenstateofmind.com.

CBS Sportsline Ranks Warriors

This from CBS Sportsline Powerrankings.

If the Warriors end up in the mix for the No. 7 seed, would they intentionally tank in order to draw likely No. 1 seed, Dallas? I'd order it. The hold Don Nelson has on his former team is amazing.

We didn't get as big a jump in rankings as the other list someone provided earlier, but we were ranked higher to begin with.  We went to 14 from 15.  Looks like Tony Mejia is sippin' the GSOM kool aid...seventh seed?  It's definitely possible considering how bad the other teams in the race have been!
