Warriors gear

I apologize in advance for making this a diary

I can't seem to get my question answered with a search and Christmas is close

Can anyone recommend a store where I can buy a youth Warriors jersey either in San Francisco or the Peninsula?  Second choice would be the East Bay

A place with a lot of selection would be cool.

Thanks

Pietrus at Power forward

Can someone explain the theory on this

I understand the idea of Nelson starting a smaller line-up to exploit the other team on offense by fast breaking.   I could see the logic last year with Monta who poses match-up problems and J_Rich and JAX in smaller line-ups

but MP seems to me  to be about the worst type of swing player to do this with.  You give up a ton and get little back.  He poses little match up issues for the other team

He has no handles, can't really take bigger players off the dribble, hardly has a midrange game, can't pass or initiate the offense,

He had a nice game last night its not his fault but I just don't see this ever working in our favor

Any thoughts?

I hate to question the Maestro Nelson but this one has me mystified.  I think Al fits much better and honestly I would rather see Croshere starting (he can shoot the spot up 3 too).

Player predictions for the Warriors this year

Just for fun, based on last night and some thoughts during the off season:

--Baron makes the All Star team this year (no doubt) and has a better field goal percentage

-This stuff about Harrington is just hype-he is what he is.  He still isn't going to rebound or finish around the rim.

-JAX especially, is building a connection with AB on pick and rolls

-AB takes his game to another level on Offense

-Monta struggles with being a point and competes to find minutes with Belli at the 2.  If Monta stays the same it really comes down to Belli's development as Nelson loves him.  If he looks ready Monta might not play much

-Buke comes back to earth but will remain the starter all year (a 20-25 minute type starter) due to his low key, low turnover presence.  Nellie likes his rebounding, size and defense on the first team (and potential scoring is a bonus).

-Austin Croshere will play more than anyone would have through and will basically be the first big off the bench.  Nellie likes that he understands exactly what he is asking him to do and his ability to shoot the 3.  He is also the only big on the team who can be a little nasty.

-Lasme and Kosta D league, POB on the team but never plays and Wright rarely plays but shows some flashes late in the year

Barnes, I hate to say, will regress this year  and has a hard time finding minutes.  Pietrus is the same player (dumb) and also gets fewer minutes

Agree?  Any others?

Baron/injuries

After his first few years he played in the following number of games per:

50  02/03
67  03/04
46  04/05
54  05/06

This year maybe 53?

I had high hopes this year but the guy can't stay on the court

So my question is do you think Nelson is already writting Baron off in the long term plans?  I don't see him getting any healthier as he ages.  The NBA is about results only.

My feeling is he will be ready to go with Monta at the point in two years and really doesn't think he can win with Baron

Some thoughts about the Warriors

Some random thoughts

SJax-I think he is what is.  A low percentage shooter who can have some big games and hit big shots.  I really don't like him at the 3 because he doesn't rebound at all.  When Jason comes back I think I would prefer to see him get big munites off the bench

Harrington-Not sold yet on his game.  He seems determined to drive when it is his turn and results are not always there.  I feel he is out of postion as well at the 4 but I am hopeful when J-rich is back and he is the 3rd option he might settle into becoming a nice complementary player

JCabbage-He is to slow to be effective in this league

Pietrus-  Simply should be much better than he is.  Has the physical gifts but will he ever get it together mentally?  Makes dumb plays on both ends of the floor and can look terrible in transition

Foyle-Nelson is unfaily harsh on him while others get a pass.I really beleive, dispite his limitations, that he gives them good minutes and it is critical to spell AB

The Warriors could really use some veteran play off the bench.  Guys like Darrel Armstrong and Anthony Johnson Eric Snow are far more valuable than their stats show. Or defensive minded guy like Quinton Ross would be awesome.

This team is lacking in good role players

Baron All-star game

Only one SI "expert" picks Baron

On ESPN he wasn't even mentioned as a snub

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/basketball/nba/01/25/all.star.picks/2.html

Thoughts?  Personally I think he is close but not quite deserving but I can't understand how some don't even mention him.  3-4 weeks ago yes but he has dropped off recently and his shooting percentages are poor (especially 3 point).  On the other hand I am not sure Parker was deserving either

In the east Michael Redd was robbed

Time to start thinking about next year?

If so what does this team need to do?

I would let Pietrus go and sign Barens as my all around role player (if he starts your team is horrible)

This team badly needs a power forward; both a starter and a back-up who can run

This team needs a consistent off the bench shooter.  A vet

This team needs a better back-up point guard (Cabbage hasn't impressed).  A vet

This team needs a healthy J-Rich

Any other thoughts?

To me the only worth while players on this team are Baron, J-Rich, Barens (maybe) The two young guys (Monta and BD) and thats about it.  Harrinton seems like he could be a starting 3 and third scoring option maybe.

Otherwise I don't think Jax, Pietrus, Cabbage really give us much

Or is it time to strip this thing down and start over?

I think it is clear that the talent is lacking

To end speculation about Barnes

Barnes benched: Barnes got a little taste of Nelson's doghouse Monday after a slew of poor shooting and defensive outings. Barnes, who started 15 straight games prior to last week's trade, didn't sniff a minute of playing time against the Lakers.

"I was mad at him," Nelson said. "He's played like four (crappy) games in a row. I just wanted to slap him and figured that was the way to do it -- just not play him in a game

Warriors and the Playoffs

Looking at the line tonight for the Nuggets with Camby, Ai and Carmelo they have to be easily the 5-7 spot

After it all shakes out I see this order:

Dallas
Phoenix
SA
Utah
Denver
Lakers
Houston (? with all the injuries they are still there it seems)

Its looking like Minn, La Clips and the Warriors are going to be fightening it out for that last spot.

I am trying to believe.

Thoughts on my order
