Andre Owens Won't Be a Warrior

Here's an interesting side tidbit from a recent column focused on Adonal Foyle's minutes from Geoff Lepper for MediaNews that hasn't received much attention:

Guard Andre Owens, one of three players acquired from the Utah Jazz for Derek Fisher, has been sent home and has been told he won't play for the Warriors this season. Because Owens holds one of 15 guaranteed Warriors contracts this season, the move would seem to clear the path for Matt Barnes or Anthony Roberson to claim that final roster spot.

A team spokesman, however, said the Warriors were not planning at this point to waive Owens, who is scheduled to make a little less than $700,000 this season. The most obvious reason not to waive him is in case his salary is needed to make a trade work under the salary cap.

Anyone know much about Andre Owens' game? Think the Warriors are making a mistake?
