Rumor: Murphy, Dunleavy, and Foyle Available, Davis Offered for Iverson, JRich Probably Available

Sam Smith of ChicagoSports.com continues the Allen Iverson speculation in his article Hopes dashed in N.Y. minute: Anthony's suspension sure to hurt Nuggets in drive for playoffs; Iverson suitors line up. Here's what he wrote about the Warriors:

When the season started, Golden State was promoting Murphy for All-Star center. Now he's the odd man out, which is odd because coach Don Nelson usually prefers perimeter big men. But poor defense, a lack of speed and more than $50 million left on his contract has Murphy in limbo. Baron Davis' name came up, and you knew it wouldn't be long before Nelson tired of his act, though Davis got scared straight with the thought of going to Philadelphia. You probably could get Jason Richardson because of his knee problems and certainly Mike Dunleavy and Adonal Foyle.

There's nothing really surprising in this take on the Warriors. Murphy has been very available for some time now and Dunleavy and Foyle would probably be moved if there were any takers. Both BD and JRich have been in the rumor mill for AI as well, but the weakness on this squad lies in the frontcourt not in the backcourt.

It seems like the Warriors have taken themselves out of the Allen Iverson sweepstakes, but they would be wise to jump back in. Sometimes teams just need a little jolt a la Baron Davis 2 seasons ago when he first came to the Warriors and Ron Artest leading the Kings to the playoffs last season. Like Nike... Just Do It.
