Rumor: Warriors Trying to Trade for Wilcox

From Percy Allen of The Seattle Times:

According to an NBA source, Phoenix, Golden State and Sacramento have contacted Seattle to talk about trade scenarios involving Wilcox, a 23-year-old power forward, who averaged 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds in 29 games with the Sonics last season.

Look for the Sonics to ink Wilcox to the reported 3 year $24 million deal that Allen is reporting as being "imminent". It's a reasonable deal that makes sense for both sides. The Sonics aren't over-committing to a player who has only played decently in 29 meaningless games and Wilcox will be a free agent when he's 26 where he can still see a huge pay day. Chris and Rod could learn a few things about negotiating extensions from Sonics GM Rick Sund (see JB's diary Can Sund or Mario provide relief?). It's one thing to resign marginal (at best) players like Mike Dunleavy and Adonal Foyle, but to give them 5 year deals is foolish and completely unnecessary.

Chris Wilcox and Mike Dunleavy seem to have similar rebounding techniques.

Do you think Chris Wilcox is an improvement over current Warrior Power Forwards Troy Murphy and Ike Diogu?
