We've got plenty of ticket giveaways left this season and we're working with some friends in high places to help us out so we can do more of these, so stay tuned!

Make the jump for a fun recap of the answers!

**************************************

Unless the Warriors and Magic meet up in the NBA Finals (haha, probably not) this will be the only time Warrior legend and former face of the franchise Adonal Foyle comes to the town. I expect to hear "WE WANT FOYLE!" in between every "Let's Go War-ri-ors!" chant.

STO_largeball.jpg
Straight BALLLLLLLLLIN!

Those of us not lucky of enough to be in attendance to give the good man a warm welcome home, but sitting on the couch watching the game on FSN Bay Area with our eyes glued to the television set BETTER hear "WE WANT FOYLE!" in full surround sound. Do not disappoint us TV viewers.

Since your boys FJ, Fuzzy, Hash, Tony, Yaobutta, Adam, R Dizzle, and myself can't make it to Monday night's game to lead up the "WE WANT FOYLE!" chants we wanted to pass our tickets in the lowerbowl (valued at $150 for the pair- good lord that's a lotta money!) on to you.

"You" meaning the first person to answer all of the questions in today's pop quiz all about the good man. Democracy definitely matters, but so does being the first person to post the correct answers to these questions in the comments!

You know how we do it here at the mighty GSoM. Here we go with our Adonal Foyle themed GSoM Pop Quiz- and unlike the last pop quiz, no calculators required!

5) What is Adonal's favorite book according to the league's official website? Who is the author of this classic? What is this book about? Feel free to quote a description of the book, but you must provide a link to the source.

According to his bio on NBA.com Adonal's favorite book is Native Son by Richard Wright.

NativeSonBookCover.jpg

Here's a little bit about this book [Wikipedia]:

Native Son (1940) is a novel by American author Richard Wright. The novel tells the story of 20-year old Bigger Thomas, an African-American of the poorest class, struggling to live in Chicago's South Side ghetto in the 1930s. His life is doomed from the outset: after Bigger accidentally kills a white woman, he runs from the police, kills his girlfriend and is then caught and tried. "I didn't want to kill", Bigger shouted. "But what I killed for, I am! It must've been pretty deep in me to make me kill."

Written mostly in the fourth person, Wright gets inside the head of "brute Negro" Bigger, revealing his feelings, thoughts and point of view as he commits crimes, is confronted with racism, violence and debasement—the name "Bigger" both is a play of the word "nigger", and a nod to the bigger social forces behind his actions. The name also suggests a "bigger" version of Harriet Beecher Stowe's character Uncle Tom.

While not apologizing for Bigger's crimes, Wright is sympathetic to the systemic inevitability behind them. The novel is a powerful statement about racial inequality and social injustices so deep that it becomes nearly impossible to determine where societal expectations/conditioning end and free will begins. As Bigger's lawyer points out, there is no escape from this destiny for his client or any other black American, since they are the necessary product of the society that formed them and told them since birth who exactly they were supposed to be. "No American Negro exists," Wright once wrote "who does not have his private Bigger Thomas living in his skull." Frantz Fanon discusses this feeling in his 1952 essay "L'Experience Vecue du Noir," or "The Fact of Blackness. " "In the end," writes Fanon, "Bigger Thomas acts. To put an end to his tension, he acts, he responds to the world's anticipation."
