OPEN THREAD: Game #63- Warriors vs Clippers- Stakes Is Even Higher

Warriors (W-L): 28-35

Clippers (W-L): 29-31

Time: 7:30pm PST

TV: NBA TV

Radio: KNBR 680

On Wednesday night against the Melo-less Denver Nuggets it was time to find out the truth and we did- the Warriors are still in it. There was a LOT to like from that game. I called that game the most important game of the season. Well, with that win tonight's game against the LA Clippers becomes THE MOST IMPORTANT GAME OF THE SEASON- really.

The last time the Warriors faced the Paper Clips it was an incredibly frustrating blowout loss. Stakes were high, but the Dubs didn't come through. The worst part about the loss was having to list out 5 reasons why I love the Clippers. Hopefully at least GSoM friend ClipperSteve from Clips Nation enjoyed it. That loss started an ugly 6 game losing streak for the Warriors, that we'll happily gloss over here.

Thankfully things are different now. The Warriors finally have their starting five and with a healthier roster players who were unmatched as starters now help form a very nice bench. With Boom Dizzle and Jax somewhat healthy the Warriors have some defense (SFGate):

It's no coincidence that Golden State has two of its best defensive quarters of the season with Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson back in the starting lineup. "One makes us better, but both of them out there, they just feed off each other," coach Don Nelson said. "All of a sudden, you've got a third, fourth, fifth guy out there playing with them and they just become better because of it."

In contrast to the Warriors, things haven't been so bright for the Clips recently. Shaun Livingston suffered what might be the nastiest sports injury ever and their could be serious long term consequences. As my man Fuzzy said when the injury happened- "Livingston is like Penny, but before Penny was good." Very sad indeed.

Sam I Am Alien has missed the pass 3 games, but will probably play tonight at the Oracle. Stellar defender Quinton Ross is also questionable for tonight's game. Warrior fan hater Coach Mike Dunleavy Sr. still seems to have that unnecessary drama with Corey Maggette. You just get the feeling this team is going to explode and there's going to be major changes this summer.

Good thing we're Warriors fans. (Wait, did I just write that?) As Jason Richardson notes, it's all about TEAM here:

"The last three games, we've been playing together, playing as a team," said Richardson, who is averaging 24.3 points in that span -- 10 more than his season average. "We're playing at a high level right now."

Vegas Odds: Warriors by 5 (as of 9:42am PST).

Predictions:

  • DJ Fuzzy Logic, Adonal Foyle, Zorgon, and DouR get to celebrate their birthdays in style with a BIG Warrior 3 point win.
  • Baron Davis, Jason Richardson, Stephen Jackson, and Monta Ellis combine for over 80 points
  • The Dubs forces over 15 Clipper turnovers.
  • Adonal Foyle gets 2 birthday blocks.
  • Andris Biedrins fouls out guarding the very clever Elton Brand.
  • Brand goes for 25-12.

Make sure to give us your predictions in the comments before tip off and post any comments you have during the game right here.

* Also make sure to head on over to SBNation Hoops brother site Clips Nation and tell ClipperSteve how good looking Sam "Alien" Cassell and Chris "Caveman" Kaman are.
