Postgame Quotes and Stuff from warriors.com recap
On building momentum:
"I think the one thing that’s glaring for us right now is that we are pushing up the numbers on our transition game. We get our rebounds the way we did here, we only lost the rebound battle by one in the second half, despite the 20 in the first. But we are getting to that point where we can start running, but the defense created those opportunities for us. Yes, we want to keep building on this, the big win in Sacramento, the win tonight, and now we have another one coming on Monday and we will get ourselves ready to go again."
On Curry & Ellis:
It’s good to get one of our guys back tonight in (Stephen) Curry. Not rhythm-wise of course, nobody would be ready to be himself shooting. He (Stephen Curry) won’t miss those shots when he’s on his game, but it was good to get him back. And of course Monta Ellis is just playing…the fans chanting…he’s our MVP and he’s moving into the selective group of players in the NBA that play at high level every single night, and that’s what he’s done."
On playing defense against LaMarcus Aldridge:
"We mixed it up. I think you saw him looking for where the double team was coming. I think a couple of times after a timeout, our dead play that we will have a couple of calls that we will use and I think that may have helped us a little bit. But also I think David (Lee) did a good job getting him off the low post and then (Ekpe) Udoh and Louis (Amundson) - I think all of our bigs had a good opportunity to keep him from getting right to the soft spot and I think we did that with him. "
On tonight's game:
"We take it for what it is. We keep on playing for 48 minutes. We will take a win however way we can get it and keep building everyday. We are getting a lot of guys back. Once we get our whole team back it’s going to be different. We just have to hold it down until we get key guys back. Steph (Curry) came back today and hopefully Andris (Biedrins) comes back during the road trip. Like I said, we're going to turn it around."
On Closing Out the 4th Quarter:
"We got after it. We played defense. We contested every shot. We did everything to win this game."
On tonight's game:
"That’s the mark of a good team, teams that can close games out. Especially at home we need to find a way to win those games. We had tough ones in the beginning of the year but now we have won a couple in a row. So if you could win those games that’s the difference between being a 35 to 40 win team, to a 50 win team. It’s amazing how many games go down to the last six to eight points."
On Closing Out Games:
"We have a better idea. I think at the end of the games we are doing a better job of keeping our offense simple. When we have had that lineup we have had in the last two games where we have three shooters with (Vladimir) Radmanovic out there we can isolate mine and Monta’s (Ellis) pick in roll and teams really have to make a decision on either have to leave any of our shooters or if they’re going to play our pick in roll. If they are then we are going to find a good shot out of it."
On Monta Ellis:
"He’s our offensive leader. He’s a guy that comes out and plays hard every single night for 48 minutes. He’s the best player I have ever played with. For me a lot of times my job when I go out there when he’s on a roll offensively is simply to set screens to give him a half a step advantage. Sometimes that’s all he needs."
- Keith Smart in the postgame interview says Udoh is "moving up the charts fast". Conditioning is holding him back. Also, his post game is still in development and progressing.
- One more winnable home game vs Sixers, then a 5 game road trip around the southeast to ring in the new year.
