Postgame Quotes from warriors.com recap
Don Nelson
On Reggie Williams:
"I think he has a gift. He doesn’t even know how big a gift he has because we have just dusted off the surface. He is a rare basketball player as far as I can see. He is able to have the mental capacity to understand the total game, read whose open, and read defenses and score. He’s not selfish but he knows he can score. I think I will be able to do a lot of things with him as we go along that is why I am so happy we signed him for next year."
On the second quarter:
"We didn’t change our strategy or anything. We put the pedal to the medal and things started to work out in the second period. Defensively we were pretty good. They matched up small with us and we were able to get a lot of deflections in the open court."
Corey Maggette
On tonight's game:
"We started to get some stops and make some mixed plays. Our younger guys are really mature and they are using this time to get as much experience as possible."
Reggie Williams
On his play:
"My teammates and coaching staff have really helped put confidence in me. I think the D-League is very important because it gives guys a chance to get experience and exposure. I was very excited when I got the call to come up. I just came in thinking I had nothing to lose."
Stephen Curry
On being considered a candidate for Rookie of the Year:
"It’s an honor for people to even put me in the conversation. I am just going out there and trying to play hard. At the beginning of the year I wasn’t as confident as I am now at point guard. I see myself being very successful in this position. I am going to focus on doing things the right way and continue to progress."
Twitter Fun
(just after the game)
gswscribe: I'm about to get lip from @reggiew55 since last time I said PG should handle down stretch, not point forward. Tonight, he ran the show late
reggiew55: @gswscribe I won't say a thing lol
gswscribe: You know you wanted to! @reggiew55 I won't say a thing lol
My Notebook
- From the MT2 article on Monta's sickness, there's a chance that Curry will NOT be in Summer League. He has other plans: "Rest."
What's next?
- A day off tomorrow, a practice day Tuesday, and a road trip to face @Jazz on Wed at 7:00pm to finish off the month of March. That will be an ESPN only game. Unless the TV schedule changes, that will also be our last national TV game.
- The Warriors Weekly Radio show will air on Tuesday again this week. (I'm still behind on last week's mp3s! Hmm, must find time to catch up.)
