The Warriors pulled out a surprising win over the Knicks last night. It was surprising for several reasons, including playing without the injured Stephen Curry, facing a Knicks team carrying rather lofty expectations after the addition of Tyson Chandler, and having a lackluster offensive performance in the first half (to say the least). But they got it done. In the immortal words of Mark Jackson,
THIS IS A NO EXCUSES BASKETBALL TEAM.

12/28/11 NYK @ GSW
This game featured a lot of ISO plays, over 20% for both teams compared to averages around 15% last season for each. While our ISO efficiency wasn't great at 0.80 PPP, we held the Knicks to a woeful 0.63 PPP. We held the Knicks to only 8 POST plays at 0.75 PPP, and our POST efficiency (0.92) was well above last year's 0.76 average. While we got 8 easy CUT plays (typically the highest efficiency type of play), the Knicks could only manage 2, and made neither. Finally, we killed the Knicks with more efficient SPOT plays (0.96) and holding their SPOT efficiency way down (0.62). All this added up to a nice win.
