Warriors at Kings: Postgame Interviews (10/17/12) by Warriors
Mark Jackson
On drafting Festus Ezeli:
“He is a big time defensive presence. Our starting center position was wide open with (Andrew) Bogut not being ready and he earned it. He earned it because of his defensive presence and also because of his professionalism. He’s one of the first guys in the locker room and one of the last guys to leave. He comes back later and watches film. He wants to be a big-time player and he absolutely gets in on the defensive end.”
On being impressed by his game:
“It’s more impressive because he’s an accomplished big man that listens. So he doesn’t think he knows everything. Whether it’s David Lee, Andrew Bogut, Carl Landry or whoever maybe that comes over or the coaches and gives him a nugget and we have a scouting report he pays attention to the details. He forces guys to beat him on our terms. He takes away those guys’ strengths and that the first thing you want to do is you want to be a great defender.”
On tonight's game:
“This is a team that’s leading the league in scoring in preseason almost 110 points a night. We paid attention to details defensively and we held them to 88. It’s a very good offensive team and we were challenged across the board. The one thing we have to stop doing is stop fouling. They had 42 free throws but other than that defensively I thought we did what we were supposed to do.”
On movement on the court:
“We have unselfish players. We got knock down shooters and we got playmakers. I like the fact that we executed when it mattered the most. We put the ball in the right hands.”
Stephen Curry
On moving on the court:
“I’ve been pretty consistent with the rehab and the comeback process. Hopefully I will get to play 30 minutes plus and get some wear and tear in the game and see how it feels.”
On being ready for opening night:
“We have three preseason games left. We plenty of time, we have two more weeks before opening night. As team we’re starting to gel. Personally I’m starting to get my rhythm back and hopefully get better.”
