Stanford's Ros Gold-Onwude, Drew Shiller to serve as analysts for Santa Cruz Warriors

Stanford Cardinal fans might hear a couple of familiar voices on the airwaves when they tune into Santa Cruz Warriors radio broadcasts this season.

The Warriors announced yesterday that Stanford alums Ros Gold-Onwude (2005-2010) and Drew Shiller (2007-2010) will serve as the analysts for the team this season alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Danna this season. The radio broadcasts will be streamed online at www.1460KION.com.

Gold-Onwude has proven to be a versatile analyst since concluding her basketball career with the Cardinal women's basketball team, working women's college basketball games for ESPN, pro basketball games for the WNBA's New York Liberty, and a combination of basketball and football for Fox Sports, the Pac-12 network, the San Francisco 49ers and Stanford Athletics. During her four-year career with the Stanford Cardinal she played in three Final Fours - including two National Championship games - and won the 2010 PAC-10 Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Shiller has remained local as he is entering his third season as the Stanford men's basketball radio analyst on KNBR 680AM/1050AM. Shiller's first year at Stanford after transferring from the San Francisco Dons was the 2007-08 season, in which the Cardinal made the Sweet 16 led by future NBA players Landry Fields and Brook and Robin Lopez. Shiller's claim to fame that year: he led the Pac-10 in that 2007-08 season with a true shooting percentage of 72.9%.

The Warriors will also be getting some national television time this season with three games slated to be televised nationally - February 23, March 25 and 30 - via the CBS Sports Network, as described on the team's website.

Yet the Santa Cruz Warriors are still searching for a PA announcer and have decided to hold a contest to fill that position, as per the release:

While the broadcast team is set, the Santa Cruz Warriors are still in need of an in-arena public address announcer. On Friday, December 7 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Aptos High, the Warriors will hold a contest, complete with local celebrity judges, to find the best in-game voice that will make fans feel welcome every time they step into the Kaiser Permanente Arena for a Santa Cruz Warriors home game.
