Warriors at Kings Postgame Interviews (3/13/12) by GoldenStateWarriors
Mark Jackson
On Tonight's Game:
"One thing I have learned as a player, as an analyst, and as a coach, is if you defend and take care of the basketball, good things will happen and we did that tonight. It was just a great total team effort. I'm awfully proud of these guys because it was an emotionally draining day for us. We had three guys that we are attached to not with us tonight. This is a business, but it hurts. Even though it was an emotionally draining day, they came out onto the court and got after it. It was a big-time win for us."
On The Trade:
"We are grown-ups and it hurts, so we are not going to sugarcoat it. We talked about it, we laughed, we cried and then we understood that the mission was still the same, and it was a great win for us. I can't comment on anything officially right now but those three guys (Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh, Kwame Brown) bought into the system from Day 1. I owe a lot to them. People questioned me as a first-time coach, but those guys bought in since Day 1."
On The Goal To Make The Playoff:
"There is no other option. It doesn't make a difference who is out there, our objective is still the same. To go out, play Warriors basketball and let the chips fall where they may. The promise (of making the playoffs) remains the same."
On If The Trade Came As A Surprise:
"I will not sit here and tell you I'm surprised, but hopefully I will never be surprised by anything. We lost some big pieces and the only way we can be better is that each guy has to make that extra percentage; increase their effort. In fairness, with nothing official, we played tonight without a big chunk of our success for the entire season. We have to continue to play with energy, passion, desire and determination to come up with wins. I care about these guys. It hurts to see guys in this business go to other places. I had no problems coaching anyone."
David Lee
On The Trade:
"It certainly on paper looks that way. We lost two guys that are a huge part of what we do and our leading scorer but all we can do right now is... as long as we got to play games we're going to go out there and try to win every single game we play. That's what we did tonight."
“What I’m going to say right now is I’m happy we won this game tonight. We got a tough one tomorrow. We’ll re-evaluate and see what’s going on. I’m just going to take this game by game but there’s been a lot of changes here in the last two hours. I’m just going to say right now that I’m really excited about the win and we got a tough one tomorrow. "
Dorell Wright
On The Trade:
"It was very tough. Three of your boys, your brothers, you know somebody that you spend a lot of your time with are gone just like that you know this business is serious. It was definitely tough to go out there especially just to know right before the game, you know what I mean, but it's part of the business. We wish all the dudes luck and hope for the best."
On The Goal To Make The Playoffs:
"I have no idea. We still have the same goal. That's to get to the playoffs. That's three games in a row that we won and I think that we're heading in the right direction. So we're not going to let anything right now stop us but our main and common goal was in the beginning of the year. We are going to continue to play hard with who we have and guys have to step up. Charles (Jenkins) played well tonight, (Brandon) Rush, Dom (McGuire), everybody -- it was a total team effort and that's what we are going to need. Some guys to have to step up now that one of our best players, Monta, points and things he's done. Ekpe, you know, being back there and posting up players and also blocking shots. Everybody's got to set up."

(during the game)
EkpeUdoh: I'm sad for the moment but understand this great opportunity in front of me. MILWAUKEE BUCK!!!!!!
EkpeUdoh: Thanks for all of the crazy support. Will always love the fans from the bay!!! Salute ✌✌✌
warriors: Now Official: @Warriors acquire Andrew Bogut & Stephen Jackson from Bucks in exchange for Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh & Kwame Brown.
Notes
- The trade isn't official yet, so the Warriors can't talk about it yet. If you're wondering why Monta and Udoh didn't play anyway, I assume it's to protect them from being injured before the trade is official.
What's next?
- Give yourself 30 seconds to thank Monta for his years here, then move on to tomorrow's home game vs the Celtics (22-19) as the back-to-backs continue.
