Mark Jackson
On what went wrong after the altercation:
“Just bad basketball. One thing we will not win is a shootout – we’re not built that way. They had their way on the offensive end and we did not defend without fouling. LaMarcus Aldridge got it going and it hurt us. We were not disciplined on the offensive end. We did not respond once the altercation took place.”
On the Trail Blazers second half run after the altercation:
“I thought we gave them life by not doing what we had been doing the entire first half. I thought in the first half we had great energy and made plays on both sides of the basketball. That’s a good basketball team and you have to be able to sustain it and we did not and paid the price because of it.”
On LaMarcus Aldridge:
“He got the foul line and hurt us that way. He went on the block and hurt us. Overall just disappointed with our effort in the second half.”
On if he thought Klay Thompson fouling out was a factor:
“No, it didn’t matter. I think at the end of the day they elevated their play and we did not.”
On the Trail Blazers defense
“We were just bad – just bad. I thought there were some times where we let our inability to make shots affect the way we defended. That’s not who we are. We didn’t give the same energy the same effort. The 50/50 balls, the long rebounds and loose balls – they got every single one of them. When we are on top of our game those are ours and we turn them into transition baskets. That’s a team that scored 64 points in the second half. 48 points off turnovers and second chance opportunities. You can’t win, you can’t win that way.”
Andrew Bogut
On the Trail Blazers' effort:
“They got in the paint very, very easily. They broke us down off the dribble. It’s not one thing on the stat sheet. They got to every loose ball before us, had more offensive rebounds than us. It seems like every 50-50 ball that was lying on the ground, they got. They deserved to win, they made us look silly out there, especially in the fourth quarter.”
On his elbow:
“It’s okay, just a little sore; nothing too serious, just general knots of an NBA game. I think a lot of guys are banged up right now and we’ve just got to try our best to stay healthy.”
On the change of momentum:
“A little bit, yeah. But they’re a team that gets up a lot of threes. They’re a team that takes the first open look, so they went on a run and we kind of crumbled.”
On injuries:
“We have built-in excuses to lose games because we have injuries, but every team goes through injuries, so we need to find a way to respond. In my opinion one of our best playmakers in Andre [Iguodala], Steph [Curry] came back today, so readjusting with him. We’ve got to do what we can. No one will feel sorry for us and like I said, we can’t use this as an excuse now because we have injuries.”
On having three days off:
“Yeah it is. We don’t have very many this month or next month so we’ll take it to get some rest, get over whatever is bothering guys and hopefully bounce back on Tuesday.”
Klay Thompson
On fouling out:
“Yeah it’s on me. Once I get my third foul I’ve got to play less with my hands and take less chances. It’s on me. I’ll learn, it won’t happen again, especially late in the fourth. As much as you feel that you didn’t get the call or it was the wrong call, you can’t do anything about it. You’ve just got to move on and I didn’t do that tonight.”
On playing aggressive:
“Yeah, you want to play aggressive. I love playing aggressive at both ends but you’ve got to learn from it. Fouling out does nothing, it’s terrible. It’s the worst thing I could have done, so I’ll learn from it.”
Notes
- No interesting notes tonight.
What's next?
- You think we'll break this losing streak with a 4 game road trip, and the first 2 games are back to back? I'm not putting money on it.
