On tonight's game:
“In this league if you allow a team to get it going individually, no matter what their record is, the talent in this league will make you pay the price. They got it going early, seems like everybody was knocking down shots – we were bad on both sides of the basketball. I’m extremely proud of my basketball team and extremely proud of their will and the way they battled and competed. The crowd got quiet and they were supposed to. We deserved for them to be quiet. We regrouped, the crowd regrouped and we began to play our brand of basketball. This being my third year here, there has not been a bigger win when you talk about a statement. We had every right to fold the tent and look forward to the next one. Those guys at halftime – I didn’t say a word. I was about to show film. I understand that there were rumors that I cussed the team out – that didn’t happen and won’t happen. I didn’t say a word. Didn’t show the video either. The good teams and the great teams they know. Those guys in the second half were incredible and in the fourth quarter exceptional. I give credit to guys like Bogues (Andrew Bogut) and Harrison (Barnes). As a player I’ve watched teammates, as an announcer I’ve watched teammates and as a coach I’ve watched teammates sulk because they were not in the game at that time. Those guys were up and active and supportive. This is a special group.”
On the second half:
“I’ve got a team that competes. When we are at our best we are pushing the basketball and making plays. Stephen Curry was once again spectacular. Klay Thompson came alive and Draymond (Green) had the best game I’ve ever seen for a guy that scored three points and shoot one of five. An incredible game. Jermaine O’Neal was spectacular. Just a huge win for us. I can’t say enough about how proud I am of our group.”
On playing Jermaine O'Neal over Andrew Bogut:
“We were making plays. When Bogues (Andrew Bogut) left the game we were making plays. I wanted to get him a quick breather and then we began to make plays. I’ve been in those situations before, those are the toughest calls. I was watching the Portland game last night. Five minutes to go in the game, Mo Williams playing great – do you put in Damian Lilliard or not? Coach Stotts decides to put him in. Those are the toughest calls to make. You need to have guys that are committed to you as a leader, as a coach and won’t create friction and that is all about the team. It was an easy call for me tonight because those guys were in the ballgame deserved to win it or lose it.”
On Jermaine O'Neal's Halftime Speech:
“I’m a guy that has fortunately played and I’m not insecure. I’m not a guy that claims to know it all. I’ve seen coaches yell and call timeouts and do all of that; players know what’s wrong they don’t need a speech. They have to do what we are known to do and do it effectively and efficiently. Jermaine (O’Neal) did a lot of the talking. I pretty much wrapped it up with ‘Bring it in’. Best speech I ever gave.”

On tonight's game:
“We were all talking about it when we got in here, this was going to be a dark evening and a worse day tomorrow. At halftime we were very upset the way we played. I thought we got outplayed intensity-wise in the first half. Their bigs out-rebounded us, their guards outshot us. We just seemed a step slow in everything we did and then in the fourth quarter we started to get stop after stop and play unselfishly on offense. Everyone contributed that was in there. Just really proud of the team for coming back and this will be a victory that we remember.”
On the lessons learned from tonight:
“I think it just can show us when we are capable of doing what we are doing, how special our team can be. We showed it in the last couple minutes of the Dallas game and came up short. Tonight we were able to fully go through it and translate it into a victory. It also can show us that we have to come out and play the right way because like coach said after the game, we’re not a team that has a guy like Lebron James or Kevin Durant that can come out and get to the free throw line and stop the bleeding at any point in the game. We’re a team that has to be on all cylinders at all times, play as a team the entire time we’re on the floor, and play with a lot of intensity and energy or we can get beat by anybody, and it showed tonight.”
On when he thought winning was a possibility:
“I’m not sure I really felt it until we cut it to like 12 or 13 and we still had plenty of time left on the clock. At that point I thought that we still had a long way to go but I thought that we had the momentum and the crowd was into it, and I knew that if we could keep getting stops we had a shot.”
Notes
- That comeback ties for the 7th biggest comeback in NBA history.
What's next?
- Back to the road we go. Here comes another tough test - back to back @Rockets and @Grizzlies. With our poor start in tonight's game, you wonder if the Warriors are wearing down from all the recent travel.
