Warriors at Suns: Postgame Interviews (4/5/13) by Warriors
Mark Jackson
On the game:
"That's a well-coached team that plays extremely hard and we were not prepared in the first quarter. Our defense wasn't sharp. We were scoring but we were a step slow defensively. At the same time I'm awfully proud of my guys that we responded. There was a time where we'd have to talk about it tomorrow and make the adjustment but we talked about it at halftime and we came out and put together a picture perfect third quarter and it was a big win for us."
On the team's defense:
"We are a defensive-minded team and we started getting stops. We started putting together multiple stops and offensively we were able to score. It was our defense that really took over the basketball game. That third quarter they scored 14 points but really 12 because the last play they scored on a layup. We raised our intensity and executed our offense."
Stephen Curry
On the game:
"We scored 55 points in the first half so [offense] wasn't our problem. When you give up 64 points [in the first half] you aren't going to win many games - especially on the road. The third quarter when they only scored 12 or 14 or whatever it was that was the key."
On the team's comeback:
"Tonight showed the resiliency that we have built over the course of the season. We are a lot more mature team and are playing a lot better basketball, obviously, going into the last six games of the year."
Klay Thompson
On the game:
"[The Suns] were making some good, tough shots but that's the NBA. There are talent players everywhere. (Michael) Beasley and (Goran) Dragic really got hot tonight. We just didn't come out and sustain enough intensity like we did in the third and fourth quarter. When we do that we are tough to beat."
On the team's comeback:
"We never let our head down. That was our biggest comeback of the year I think and it really showed that we can persevere. They are a talented team so that was a really big win for us."
Notes
- No interesting notes tonight.
What's next?
- Our magic number is 2, and we face the Jazz on Sunday. Beating the Jazz means clinching the playoffs, but also helping the Lakers. So maybe we should root for a loss. Decisions, decisions.
