Mark Jackson
On tonight's game:
“This was a quality win for us. I give my guys a lot of credit. They showed tremendous resilience, competitive spirit, they didn’t quit, and they chipped away, and gave ourselves a chance to win the game on the road against a very good basketball team.”
On what fueled the comeback:
“We started getting stops. We talked about starting with getting one stop, and then another stop, and then another stop. Then we got some quality looks. I thought the guys off the bench came in and gave us some great minutes. We went small, which opened the floor, and we were able to defend the pick-and-roll better. Offensively we were able to get great looks.”
On playing hard through the comeback:
“Great teams don’t make excuses. And we’re trying to become great, which makes me even more proud of them. They could have easily said, ‘We’re 3-0 on this trip, we lost to the Hawks after a big win last night.’ But this team has no quit. They are high character (guys), they enjoy one another, and when you do the right things, great things happen.”
On Andre Iguodala:
“The thing about Andre is he’s not afraid of the moment. We’ve got guys who put the time in. He’s another guy who’s there 10-, 11:00 at night getting shots up. You think he stumbles into that shot and he’s not afraid of it, but I’m watching him at midnight taking those same shots. So when the lights come on and the curtains open up he’s ready and prepared. He’s once again showing why we went and got him. He’s a big-time player.”
Andre Iguodala
On the final play:
“I started thinking if my man leaves, I’ll be open. He (Curry) hit me back and I made the shot. When you put in the hard work, things like that happen. We’re starting to understand different aspects of our game at different points of the season, and how we should be playing. I felt like this could have been a trap game, and it was until there was 3.2 seconds left in the game. Ten games ago I don’t know if we execute that play that well.”
“We’re growing as a team. We’re understanding the important things like rebounding, and trying to exploit a lot of the advantages we have during the game. This shows how we kind of have some resilience. We were down 14 in the third quarter, and there wasn’t any quit in us. The last seven minutes of the fourth quarter was great. We got stops and we got good looks.”
Stephen Curry
On the game:
“When we’re healthy we’re a good team, and we have a lot of confidence. When we were down no one was panicking or quitting on the game. So for us to make the plays down the stretch, get the stops and get the rebounds to give ourselves a shot, and then Andre (Iguodala) taking over, that’s a credit to every single guy on the floor.”
On the final play:
“I was a decoy at first, and then it became my play once we didn’t have our first option. Knowing there’s three seconds left you have time to catch and see what’s going on. I just tried to make the right play. Once I got the ball in my hands they jumped off of (Iguodala) and he jumped in. A clutch, clutch, clutch shot by him.”
Notes
- What a finish!
What's next?
- Sunday will be another early afternoon game again, at 3pm. We "should" beat these last 3 teams, but the travel fatigue will start to be a factor, unless we mop up these teams early.
