On tonight's game:

“We made some mistakes. That’s an awfully good basketball team. They are outstanding at executing their offense and making you pay the price when you make mistakes. Disappointing loss that will make us better. We may see them down the road again, but there is a reason why they are the best team in basketball.”

On their overall energy level tonight:

“I thought we were active. They play at a big time pace and force the issue offensively. Give them credit. You are going to get better playing against a team like that. It was a learning experience and the thing is they just didn’t do that against us they have done this all year long. Give them credit.”

On David Lee's status after tonight's game:

“He came back on the bench and I believe-it just made no sense with the importance of getting these guys the proper rest. Same thing with Bogs (Andrew) Bogut and Jermaine (Jermaine O’Neal). It got to the point where it was important to get this time off. We did what we needed to do and now let’s take these days off and look forward to closing out the season the right way.”

On if he's concerned about about getting rusty with five days between games:

“I’m not concerned about it. This break is going benefit us because we need to get healthy and whole. It’s important.”

On having 18 turnovers tonight:

“Some of them were their activity. High active hands and some of them were just careless plays. We have to be better. We went back to times when we made crucial mistakes. We didn’t take care of the basketball. This is one team that you can’t do that against because they execute and they make you pay the price. The turnovers definitely cost us tonight, some because of their great defense and some because of our bad offense.”

On the slow start in the first quarter:

“The pace they play at is different than anybody else. They made shots early on. They are a very good basketball team. We adjusted and fortunately we got back in the ballgame and we began to look like ourselves, but give them credit.”

“Tough loss; they’re playing well obviously, on the streak they’ve got going. We let them get out to an early lead. We fought our way back to take the lead in the third quarter, just didn’t have enough at the end to make enough plays to get the win. Tough loss; obviously you want to win as many as you can at home going down the home stretch, but we have five days to rest up and come back ready for Friday.”

On what makes the Spurs so difficult to beat:

“They’re deep and they run their system. They execute at a high level. They seem to always try to make the right play. The ball moves so well and they’re kind of a staple of what good offenses do. We’ve won big games with some of our main guys out and they kind of have that same expectation. We just didn’t have enough early to get a quick lead and they made us pay.”

On the team's feeling heading into a five-day break:

“We’ve been playing well—12-5 I think since the All-Star break, or something like that. We’re still playing pretty good basketball. We want, obviously, to protect home court, that’s the mission the rest of the way. But we’re feeling pretty good and we’re not going to get discouraged. This is a great basketball team that’s got great things in mind and we do too, so we’ve just got to get refocused, reenergized, rejuvenated, and ready for Friday.”

On tonight's game:

“You’ve got to be better to beat those guys. They’ve got the best record in the league for a reason. We’ve got to understand what hurt us early in the game, what hurt us late in the game. We had every opportunity to gain the lead and put some difference between us and them and just didn’t take full advantage of it tonight. Against a team like that which is right now, record-wise, the best team in the league, those types of things tend to come back and hurt you.”

On what makes the Spurs so difficult to beat:

“The Spurs played extremely tough. It’s one of those teams where they play on a legit string. You don’t really know what the option is for. A lot of times it’s a decoy to get a flare on the weak side for a three. So they make you play the full 24 seconds and they play well. We had a chance quite a few times to take the lead or cut into the lead and a turnover here, a turnover there, a missed basket here, a foul there, whatever it may be and we just weren’t able to get over the hump. To beat this team you’ve got the play a full 48 minutes. They’re definitely well coached, got some guys that can hurt you when they go small. We look forward to learning from this and hopefully we’ll get another opportunity at playing them somewhere down the road.”
