Are the Golden State Warriors now Steve Kerr's 'fallback choice'?

Reports out of New York suggest that Steve Kerr is working toward completing a deal with the Knicks, making the Warriors his second choice.

Marc Berman of the New York Post reported earlier today that Steve Kerr is close to completing a lucrative deal with the New York Knicks, which makes the Golden State Warriors his second choice if negotiations with N.Y. don't work out.

Kerr has yet to agree to terms with the Knicks but multiple sources told The Post they are the clear front-runner, with Golden State still his fallback choice if Knick negotiations break down...Kerr has spoken to the Warriors, but Kerr believes the opportunity to work with Jackson in New York is too good to pass up and only would take the Warriors position if things don’t work out contractually with the Knicks, according to a source.

It has been reported there also is a split among the Warriors’ family, with some players preferring top candidate Stan Van Gundy.

Ian Begley of ESPN New York had previously reported that money might become a factor for the Warriors, who have been trying to sell Kerr on the quality of the team, a reunion with former Phoenix Suns colleague Rick Welts, and the Lacob family. With Kerr seeking a five-year, $30 million deal from the Knicks according to Berman, he might be out of the Warriors' price range at this point - or maybe he's setting the bar high for the Knicks to pull him away from the West Coast, which might just leave an opening for the Warriors.
