* Dear KNBR,
The 1050 treatment for a GAME 7 is a JOKE and not at all Unstoppable Baby.
:(
Every San Francisco Giants game is not a World Series game.
Sincerely,
Every Warriors fan out there
As a basketball fan (a mind state and being that does KNBR does not seem to recognize), this weekend is a dream. Five Game 7's? Nuts!
The Warriors Game 6 outing was mighty impressive. Overall it was a pretty dismal shooting display by both squads. But the Warriors dug deeper, got lucky the Clips just ran out of time, and stayed alive. Whoever thought the Warriors could win a playoff game against their biggest rival shooting under 40% FG, 30% 3pt, and 65% FT? Splash is was not.
Weekend of 7's
Minus the Donald Sterling foolishness this has been a fantastic 1st round. All these game 7's this weekend detonate claims that the NBA is full of lazy players. There's a lot of "no quit" here if that makes any sense. This is tremendous for the league. Here's my picks...
Saturday
Atlanta Hawks (Peachtree Hoops) @ Indiana Pacers (Indy Cornrows) Game 7: The Pacers will wake up and realize they're not a Leastern Conference team.
Memphis Grizzles (Grizzly Bear Blues) @ Oklahoma City Thunder (Welcome to Loud City) Game 7: The Grizzlies are a very, very tough team, but Mr. Reliable Kevin Durant and the unworldly Russell Westbrook will come through.
Golden State Warriors vs LA Clippers Game 7: Bay > LA
Sunday
Brooklyn Nets (Nets Daily) @ Toronto Raptors (Raptors HQ) Game 7: BROOOOOOOOOKLYN.
Dallas Mavericks (Mavs Moneyball) @ San Antonio Spurs (Pounding the Rock) Game 7: The Mavs will put an end to the Snores season, thus single handedly boosting the NBA's playoff TV ratings by 10%.
Keys to the W
Back to this evening's Battle for California showcase. Here's what the Warriors can do to help their cause minus Andrew Bogut, Jermaine O'Neal (likely out), and Festus Ezeli (likely out).
1. Protect the Rock: This might be the single biggest factor in the Warriors success. Turn the ball over carelessly and it's going to be a painful and embarrassing 48 minutes of Lob City as the season winds down. Protect the rock and the Dubs have a shot.
2. Contain JC: Jamal Crawford is either scorching hot or frozen tundra cold. If it's the former, it's going to be a long night. Unfortunately this is one of those variables only the hoops gods control. Other than denying JC the rock, there isn't much the Warriors can do defensively.
3. Get Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan in Foul Trouble: Obviously this is much easier said than done, but if the Warriors can catch the Clips big man tandem in some bad switches and draw some ticky-tack fouls early it will pay dividends.
Predictions
- Warriors advance.
