Not that you should believe everything (or anything) you hear at this time in the annual NBA cycle, but multiple reports are coming out today that a Golden State Warriors deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love is at the very least "unlikely" to happen and quite possibly dead.
Sources: KLove deal to Warriors is dead. Love "unlikely" now to be dealt before draft.— Ric Bucher (@RicBucher) June 23, 2014
League source says that, as of now, the GSW-Minnesota deal for Kevin Love is dead.— Baxter Holmes (@BaxterHolmes) June 23, 2014
Checked in with a source who says likelihood of a Warriors-MIN deal any time soon are about the same as they were a few days ago. #unlikely— Tim Kawakami (@timkawakami) June 23, 2014
Don't believe chatter that Klay is issue holding up GS trade, or even KMartin. It's likely Barnes or Green as 3rd piece & how they get there— Jerry Zgoda (@JerryZgoda) June 23, 2014
But before you lament the end of this dream of pairing Love with Stephen Curry (or rejoice, if you don't believe in adding talent), additional points from both Kawakami and Zgoda are probably worthwhile as well.
I'll repeat six words one more time: These are negotiations. Things can change.— Tim Kawakami (@timkawakami) June 23, 2014
Dead 3 days before draft? If u say so RT @RicBucher: Sources: KLove deal to Warriors is dead. Love "unlikely" now to be dealt before draft.— Jerry Zgoda (@JerryZgoda) June 23, 2014
Either way, if indeed it's Harrison Barnes or Klay Thompson holding up this trade, I'm really struggling to understand why.
Dear Golden State, Kevin Love is worth giving up Klay Thompson and acquiring Kevin Martin. Signed, Captain Obvious— Pro Hoops History (@ProHoopsHistory) June 23, 2014
/Flip checks out the Warriors at the grocery store "That'll be $28.50." /"We'll give you $4 and this broken tire." "...It's $28.50."— Hardwood Paroxysm (@HPbasketball) June 23, 2014
