The Warriors are in the Big Easy tonight to take on the Alvin Gentry led New Orleans Pelicans. Tip-off is slated at 4:30 p.m. PST, a mere 22 hours after the Warriors beat the Rockets Friday night in Houston 112-92. Tonight's game will be broadcasted on CSN Bay Area as well as NBATV, marking the third straight Dubs game that is nationally televised. It is also the first of a league high 20 back-to-back games for the Warriors in 2015-16.
Stephen Curry plucked the Pels defense apart last Tuesday in route to a 40 point performance in the Warriors 111-95 win over New Orleans. According to BetOnline the Warriors (-205) are four and a half point road favorites tonight against the Pelicans (+175). The game line for total points scored is set at 212.5.
Golden State has owned New Orleans as of late, winning nine of the last ten games between the two teams. The Pels have not played since losing to the Portland Trail Blazers 112-94 on Wednesday. Here are some betting trends for both Golden State and New Orleans provided by OddsShark.com.
Lets take a look at my picks from Friday's game against Houston:
ML: GOLDEN STATE - WIN 112-92
ATS: GOLDEN STATE -1.5 - WIN GS by 20
O/U: OVER - 215.5 - LOSS 204 total points
The Dubs already look like they are in mid season form and a generous 4.5 point spread should be an easy cover. As stated in the betting trends Golden State has gone under the point total in 15 of their last 20 games. Yes, a majority of those 20 games were from last year's playoffs when the defense tends to get tighter. But the Dubs D has been stingy this season and I don't expect anything to change tonight.
Bovada.com currently has 22 player props up and running. I'd take Stephen Curry going over 37.5 combined points, rebounds and assists.
