It's on us

SBNation and Golden State of Mind have partnered with the "It's On Us" campaign.

You may have noticed that our avatar recently changed. Every single blog's avatar recently changed. SBNation and Vox Media are proud to announce that we've partnered with the "It's On Us" campaign to help end sexual assault on college campuses.

College is a time for figuring out what you're going to do with the rest of your life. You're young. You're on your own for the first time. You are figuring out who and what you can be in this world. It's a chance for you to make connections and start friendships that will last for the rest of your life. Often times people start school not knowing who they are, and walk away with a broader, more beautiful understanding of the world around them.

But it can also be a dangerous place. Statistics have shown that one out of every five woman in college in the U.S. has been the victim of sexual assault on campus, and 7% of men report being subjected to unwanted sexual incidents as well. Think about that. That is a huge number of people. Too often these days assault on college campuses is not just a news item about a far-off problem, but an epidemic that can sometimes effect the lives of people we love. Friends, neighbors, family members, and ourselves. This is a problem too real, and too serious, to sweep under the rug.

Life is precious. A person's body and soul are sacred, and should never be violated.

This week, we are proud to stand with "It's On Us."

Because it's on us to be the change we want to see. It's on us to make a difference.
