The Golden State Warriors tied the record for most consecutive wins to begin a season by beating the Denver Nuggets 118-105 win at the Pepsi Center.
With the win, the Warriors became just the third team in NBA history to go 15-0 and the first since Hakeem Olajuwon's 1993-94 Houston Rockets did it. The Warriors are now in position to become the first team in NBA history to open a season with 16 consecutive wins when they face the L.A. Lakers on Tuesday.

The win is also the Warriors' 19th-straight regular season win, which puts them in a tie for sixth on the NBA's list of most consecutive regular season wins — the record is 33, held by Jerry West's 1972-73 L.A. Lakers.

And looking at the Warriors' upcoming schedule, the Lakers' record that has stood for more than 40 years could be within reach.

Given the mental and physical wear and tear that comes from maintaining even a 15-game streak, you'd almost have to put an asterisk next to the Warriors consecutive wins streak — they had a summer off, added a couple of new players, and had time to "reset" that the 72-73 Lakers didn't.
But the fact remains that this is an extremely impressive team nonetheless. Rather than dwell over what counts on what list, we really need to just enjoy this — we should know as well as any fans that these moments don't come along often.
