Warriors vs. Kings gamethread: Brandon Rush to start for injured Harrison Barnes, DeMarcus Cousins out

The Warriors will face the Kings tonight at 7:30 with a starter out for each team.

It looks like Harrison Barnes isn't playing for the Golden State Warriors tonight, but DeMarcus Cousins is out for the Sacramento Kings, so...#Winning?

While Cousins has been out a couple games already due to back injuries, this Barnes thing is new and the Warriors will be starting Brandon Rush in his place, according to a tweet by Ethan Sherwood Strauss.

The Warriors haven't lost a regular season game at home since January 27 against the Chicago Bulls and a Kings team without Cousins wouldn't seem to be a strong candidate to break that streak.

And the significance of an 18th or (22nd, if you're into the multi-season thing) straight win? They'd tie the 2007-08 Houston Rockets for the third-longest winning streak (single- or multi-season) at 22 wins. So...always something to shoot for, if you're into that multi-season thing.

But speaking of that Rockets team, if you're among the crowd that thinks this whole streak thing is overrated, that team should be your prime example — despite winning 22 straight games during January and February 2008, that team only finished third in their division and made one of Tracy McGrady's patented first round exits. It was a situation described well by The Sports Fan Journal and I think we can all agree that this year's Warriors are better than that team, but all I can say is that we need to enjoy this moment for what it is because they can be fleeting.
