After a hard fought win for the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena in Game 2, they now look to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals tonight in Houston.
There has been plenty of talk around here about the final sequence of Game 2, which resulted in James Harden crumbling to the ground in defeat. And I thought Coach Nick alluded to a point that I almost immediately felt after that situation: the utter futility in expecting Dwight Howard to do anything with the ball outside of about five feet. For a player who gets as much attention as he does, that moment just reinforced the point that Jared Stearne made earlier in the week about Howard not being as important as people think; it's difficult to consider someone all that important when you cannot give them the ball at the end of he game when the team needs a bucket.
Tonight, I'd fully expect the Warriors to encounter a highly-motivated Rockets team that wants to keep their championship hopes alive by avoiding an 0-3 hole in the conference finals. But ultimately, the Rockets have still failed to solve a number of problems defensively that could hold them back moving forward.
