Some awful news:
Cavs announce Kyrie Irving has a fractured L kneecap and will have season-ending surgery.
— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) June 5, 2015
After playing tremendously throughout Game 1, Cavaliers star point guard Kyrie Irving went down with two minutes remaining in overtime and had to leave the game.
He was seen on crutches postgame, and after undergoing an MRI today, has been officially diagnosed with a fractured left kneecap. He is estimated to be out 3-4 months.
This. Sucks.
Without Irving, the Cavaliers' chances of winning a title just dropped precipitously. And the chances of seeing a Finals that validated the hype -- and games that were at least comparable to the Game 1 thriller -- are on life support as well.
Sorry, Cleveland. Sorry, Cavaliers. Sorry, basketball fans.
