Golden State Warriors media day open thread

New, comments

Warriors media day will take place today at 1 p.m. PST at the team's headquarters in Oakland.

Are you, like me, a San Francisco 49ers fan? Football got you down? Did Marcus Thompson writing about the reality of how awful that team is make you long for the days when he was able to write about the greatness of another local professional sports team?

Thankfully, we're less than a week away from the Golden State Warriors taking the court once again, albeit for a preseason game. And today, we have media day — you can find all the details at the Warriors site.

Before getting down to business and preparing for the season ahead, the team reserves Media Day for photo shoots, the recording of feature and promotional materials for local and national broadcasters and a team-wide media availability that will be aired live on CSN Bay Area...Use the hashtag #GSWMediaDay and ask a player a question on Twitter, or see what different team members say and do as they take over the team’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. If this year is anything like those past, there’s no telling what will happen. We just know that it will be a whole lot of fun, and it all starts at 1 p.m. this Monday, September 28.

If you have the chance to enjoy it, feel free to drop your observations in the comments below for those of us that will be stuck at a job that doesn't involve taking photos in a basketball uniform.

(Speaking of you and the comments, after gathering community feedback over the offseason, we've decided to add a daily link roundup to out rotation that will serve as a daily open thread for people to post links during the day and generally just talk about the Warriors. That post will stay locked near the top of the site for the whole day so people hopefully know exactly where to post things to share with others where everyone will see it. Of course, we'll still encourage FanPosts and FanShots - more to come on that later - but we hope having a designated daily place for you to discuss what you want will help strengthen people's experience at the site. As always, feel free to let us know if you have additional thoughts)

P.S. I really hope that this happens today:
