Warriors at Nuggets Gamethread: Jason Thompson will start with Draymond Green resting

The Warriors will give Draymond Green a rest when they face the Nuggets tonight at 6 p.m. PST.

When you're off to the best start in NBA history, you can afford to start resting players randomly at some point and the Golden State Warriors are definitely in position to do that after playing their stars big minutes due to numerous injuries.

For tonight's road game against the Denver Nuggets, the Warriors will give Draymond Green a rest and apparently start Jason Thompson in his place, according to Rusty Simmons of the S.F. Chronicle. It's not like the Warriors are lacking for talent with the Splash Brothers and the 2015 NBA Finals MVP still available, but it is mildly surprising that Harrison Barnes or even Marreese Speights didn't get the start based on how minutes have been allocated to this point in the season.

But it is a nice chance for Thompson to prove that he's worthy of playing meaningful minutes as the team starts to look ahead to keeping players fresh for the remainder of the regular season as they march toward the playoffs.
