The NBA champion coach will make his first coaching appearance of the 2015-2016 regular season.

Not one moment too soon, coach.

Per Warriors.com and several beat reporters, Steve Kerr will return to the bench to coach Golden State on Friday night.

Kerr left interim coaching duties to assistant coach Luke Walton while he recovered from a series of back and spinal ailments. While Luke Walton posted an NBA-best 39-4 record on the season to date, the Warriors will be happy to have their head coach back on the sidelines.

The substitution patterns and rotations for Walton's Warriors have changed significantly from last season under Kerr, and it will be fascinating to see how they change in the coming months. But for now, it's time to celebrate: Kerr is back, and just in time for Monday's showdown with the San Antonio Spurs.
