At this point, it’s pretty clear that interacting with fans is important to Kevin Durant. And a big part of forming a connection with his fans all over the world has come through his YouTube channel.
KD has used to channel to talk to fans in many ways. From silly games, to documenting his travels, to answering fan questions, the videos have been constant, and excellent.
His best video came out this morning: a documentation of opening night, from his preparations at home, to his drive to the arena, to the epic ring ceremony.
The most fascinating - and certainly unplanned - part of the video comes when KD is watching the first game of the night, the Boston Celtics at the Cleveland Cavaliers. The cameras catch Durant’s live reaction to Celtics’ forward Gordon Hayward suffering a horrific leg injury.
It’s certainly not a fun scene, but it’s an amazing glimpse behind doors that are normally closed.
The whole video is wonderful: KD’s personality shines, and it’s always a treat to see what our favorite players are like off the court. And we even get to see his mother - the real MVP - try on the championship ring.
If you’ve got five minutes to spare, check it out; it’s a great video.
