Shaun Livingston is out, but the Warriors are still heavy favorites to win at home against one of the top teams in the Eastern conference because that just means more minutes for wunderkind Patrick McCaw. The number one priority tonight though is Kevin Durant’s health - and proximity to Marcin Gortat.
Gortat didn’t mean to do it, but if you’ll recall, he was the one who fouled Zaza Pachulia who then subsequently fell awkwardly into Kevin Durant’s knee - sidelining Durant for over a month. While I certainly don’t blame Gortat...I kind of do. Look, being big and awkward is one thing, but your intent matters less than the results sometimes. I’m not mad at you, Gortat, but you stay the [heck] away from my boy KD! Durant, by the way is leading the NBA in blocked shots.
As Charlie Stanton pointed out in his preview this game will feature a battle between two of the best backcourt duos in the NBA. John Wall and Bradley Beal aren’t on the same level as Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, but some of the same elements are there. Both teams are led by a dynamic point guard with a fierce reputation as an offensive force and supported by a lethal-shooting 2 guard.
Also, no pressure, but if you haven’t donated to local fire relief and like a little excitement please consider tacking a little something on to Klay Thomspon’s current pledge drive. You can donate per point (like me) or put in a lump sum using this link here.
2 games left in my Points with Purpose campaign for fire relief. Help us reach our new goal and let’s get after it. https://t.co/fswsBfE8Xz pic.twitter.com/NNbF5Ozpvk
