In case you missed it, Golden State Warriors’ All-Star Klay Thompson pledged to donate $1,000 for every point he scored on the recent home stand. After pouring in 29 points in last night’s loss, Thompson’s total sat at 69 for the three games.

That means Thompson donated a very generous $69,000 to aid victims of the recent fires in Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, and Lake Counties. But that’s not all: Thompson also has a running pledge, so that anyone can join in on the good will.

There’s still time to get your name and donation in, but currently the donations are in excess of $335,000, with the target of $350,000 right around the corner. That Thompson not only made a sizable donation, but encouraged others to chip in hundreds of thousands of dollars is pretty special.

Even after the pledge is complete, the sharpshooter’s actions will likely inspire others to keep giving. His shoe sponsor, Anta, agreed to match his pledge, though it’s unclear whether that’s included in the current figure.

And coach Steve Kerr, when asked if he would play Thompson extra minutes to raise the total, said, “I think I just have to do my job and I’ll add some money to the pot instead. How’s that?”

Great job, Klay. Actions like this make the team very easy to root for.
