Sheesh! Choosing the Warriors Wonder for the champs’ 110-95 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans was rather difficult.
Warriors Wonder Honorable Mentions
Zaza Pachulia
The oft-criticized Zaza Pachulia gave a heroic defensive effort against the monstrous Olympian DeMarcus Cousins. Pachulia repeatedly either stripped, contested, or bodied Cousins whenever the Pelican center tried to exert his might. Even with Draymond Green saddled in foul trouble, Pachulia forced Cousins into a sub-par 15 points and 6 turnovers.
Klay Thompson
Some may even argue that Klay Thompson was the most Wonderous of the Warriors, as his shooting spree in the second quarter pulled the Dubs back into the game after a lackluster start.

Thompson almost singlehandedly brought us back from the large deficit with that deep “splashery”. He was the only Warrior with double-digit scoring in the first half, carrying the offensive load.

Last Night’s Warriors Wonder: Stephen Curry
With that said…it’s not how you start. It’s how you finish, baby! Curry was the force of nature who steered the Warriors offense out of a slog in the second half to pull away. He struggled from the field early on, but his relentless attacking in transition eventually broke the game open.

The roof came off of the place after this sequence. When Curry gets it going, he provides an avalanche of energy that crackles from the court to the rafters. The Pelicans were unable to withstand his 22 point second half barrage and the momentum it provided.
He finished with a team-high 27 points and dished out 6 assists. Most importantly, he controlled the pace of the game. He forced the Pelicans into a run-n-gun game that is ill-suited for their personnel, and activated a probing pick-and-roll that stretched the Pellies defense until it tore open.
Super Honorable Mention: The Town Jerseys
Man, how sweet were those “Town” jerseys?! As an Oakland native, I was truly pleased to see the team creatively acknowledge the city that they actually play in. That was a hella beautiful homage!

Oaklanders are a proud bunch, and it was super cool to see @Warriors Twitter was reveling in the “Oaktown Funk” during the game!

During the game, my grade school buddy (the infamous Tweeter @SmASHLey_G11) texted me:
“The Warriors are such a huge influence on THE TOWN’S culture. Seeing the Dubs wear it, and seeing the logo on the court, makes people like us who grew up here so much more proud!”
