Luke Walton’s time with the Golden State Warriors was sweet. As an assistant coach on Steve Kerr’s staff, Walton was part of one championship, and the greatest regular season in NBA history. He learned from one of the top staffs in the league, and coached some of the game’s elite players.
And after two sweet years, he earned his dream job: head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Walton always has a good sense of humor, but so do the Warriors. With Golden State in Los Angeles to face the Lakers for the first time this season, the Dubs’ PR staff had a little bit of fun with Walton, by presenting him with the following.

The piece of paper presented to Walton reads:
ALL-TIME WARRIORS’ INTERIM HEAD COACH WINNING LIST
FIRST: Mike Brown, 12-0 (1.000)
LAST: Luke Walton, 39-4 (.906)
This is not entirely accurate, as Brown and Walton were technically listed as “acting head coaches” not “interim head coaches” (the difference being that Kerr was still officially the head coach). And the Dubs have had interim head coaches with far worse records than Walton so really the title needs a change to be accurate, but . . . you know what? You get the point.
Either way, this is pretty hilarious.
