Explain One Play: Steph’s amazing overtime

Come for Stephen Curry's amazing Overtime. Stay for Draymond cursing out KD for too much isolation. From the Warriors-Lakers game on Nov 29, 2017.

This game was packed with a lot of interesting stuff, but it was all overshadowed by the thrilling overtime. It felt a bit like the famous Portland “I’m Back” playoff game where Stephen Curry (re-live the E1P here) where Curry came back still healing from injury and missed his first NINE threes, but then woke up to hurl in a record-breaking 17 points in overtime.

Tonight, Curry went 6-17 (1-7 from 3) in regulation. And the misses were UGLY. FOUR airballs, plus other rim-grazers. I mean, Curry probably has gone months without four airballs. The obvious explanation was his shot was messed up by the weird bulky bandaging on Curry’s right ring finger.

Anyway, once overtime started, Curry channeled the spirit of 2015-2016 and shot out the lights, and made further plays with his screening.

Here is a video breakdown of Curry’s overtime. In fact, I focus on a particular split cut play the Dubs ran four times with a couple of variations.

I also point out Draymond Green having an absolute furious rage about Kevin Durant’s breaking out of plays to attack in isolation. This is EXACTLY the conflict that Draymond had with Durant in Memphis in the famous game where Green chewed out Durant on national television.

Enjoy:
