One day after being named the D-League Player of the Month, PG Briante Weber is joining forces with the NBA Co-Players of the Month on a 10-day contract with the Golden State Warriors. Adrian Wojnarowski and numerous beat writers have now reported on the transaction.
For Warrior fans eager to know more about the new face on the bench: Weber attended VCU all four years. He experienced every player’s worst nightmare, tearing an ACL and meniscus just 12 steals shy from the all-time NCAA record for career steals. Since that horrific setback, Weber has rebuilt his NBA stock from “undrafted” to “the best NBA free agent” available.
On the flip side, Anderson Varejao now finds himself teamless for the second straight NBA midseason. While fans can hardly appreciate the on-court production Varejao provided, Varejao leaves the Warriors with a reputation as one of the best lockerroom presences in the league.
