Hey GSoM, it’s Hugo here. Happy St. Patrick’s Day, and hope you’re enjoying the nice Bay Area weather if you’re from around here.
I’ve been writing here a little less frequently lately, and I’ve missed it! One reason for my absence is I’m currently a fellow for Dat Winning, a program for young Asian American sportswriters. I’m writing my first piece about being an Asian American Warriors fan, and I’ve been thinking a lot about rising ticket prices at Oracle Arena. The median ticket price has increased from $140 to $293 in the past three years, and will continue to rise as the Warriors keep winning and move to San Francisco in 2019.
I know personally it’s even tougher to go to games because tickets are so expensive, and I’m a little saddened to see a richer, more bandwagon-y fan demographic attend games, especially during the playoffs. If you have your own personal experiences or thoughts on the matter, please explain in the comments!
