Injury Report: Kevin Durant sidelined due to calf strain

Kevin Durant tweaked his calf against the Mavericks, and he could miss a little time on the court.

In the Warriors’ game against the Mavericks on Wednesday, Kevin Durant strained his right calf during the first quarter, but played the rest of the game.

This seems to be the play where Durant injured himself in an awkward fall.

This probably explains why Durant was hesitant to drive late in the game against the Mavericks, even when he was matched up with smaller guards.

Durant missed Thursday’s game against the Rockets (as did James Harden), and the Warriors still pulled it out with a win in Houston.

The Warriors announced that there is no timetable for Durant’s return, so his return date is up in the air. My guess is that he misses a few games. He was noticeably passive towards the end of the game against the Mavericks which indicates he probably just needs some rest. And the Warriors have the luxury of being cautious with his injury.

Luckily for the Warriors, Stephen Curry is back, and they tend to do just fine in the regular season without Durant. Let’s hope he returns fully healthy.
